Anybody talking this suppliment? Does it matter if you get Glucosamine Sulfate or Cloro...err... something...
I'm thinking of trying this stuff out, but there are about twenty different combinations, some that add MSM, some that just have the Glucosamine. I have friends who swear by the Glucosamine with the Controitin in it. But then I noticed the two different kinds of Glucosamine.
Help.
Mostly looking for testimonials, and what other folks are taking. I hear it's quite a popular suppliment.
Anyone? Bueller?

8. Hmmm. So it might not be under just the suppliment name |
|
but some sort of "flexible sounding" name. We don't have a Costco, but I could try Shopco or somesuch.

No noticeable difference for me. But I may not be taking enough of it. Of course, I got sick of taking the recommended FIVE pills every night!! Not to mention it'd cost me an arm and a leg to keep that up.

and I'm with you. I'm looking for cheap.
There's an online store people at work are using that looks halfway decent. It's called Puritan's Pride.

7. You betcha. GOOD STUFF! |
|
I take "Joint Soother". It has glucosimine sulphate, chondroitin, and MSM. MSM is methylsulfon-bumptey-bump-something-this-long.
Been taking it since the mid 90s. Before that, my knee joints sounded (and felt) like they were full of gravel. Joint Soother is like WD-40 for joints.
IMPORTANT: It takes about 2 weeks for it to kick in, so keep taking it and don't give up.
I get it at Vitamin World.

My pills have 1500mg GC 1200 mg Chondroitin 1200 mg MSM
They suggest 3 tabs daily, preferably with a meal. I take 2, one morning, one evening, and that seems to do the job for me. 250 lbs. 6'3"

10. I worked great for me, but took several months. |
|
(Which is normal.)
The chondroitin is a shellfish derivative & some people are allergic to shellfish which is why they get sick. But, the chondroitin makes the glucosamine work better for some reason. If you're not sure if you're allergic to the chondroitin you might want to think about getting a small bottle at first. That way if it does make you sick you can toss it & not have spent too much money.
BTW, if there's a Costco in your area, they do have really good prices on it.

13. I take glucosimine with chondrotin and msm. |

I find this formula works the best for me. I am taking Andrew Lessman's which is $100 for a 2 month supply. I skip a day here and there and have bought a cheaper one to take to stretch out my supply. You may have to experiment to find what works best for you. I tried maybe 5 different brands before this one worked. Unfortunately and just my luck, its the expensive one that works for me! But you may have better luck with a less expensive brand. The thing is, any good brand will be somewhat expensive. Keep an eye out for Flexamin, Knox or other brands they sell in CVS, Walgreens or other drug stores. Around here they usually have a buy one get one at 50% off or something like that and a lot of times there is a coupon in the Sunday paper too. So just try different ones til you find one that works. And be patient. It took about a month for me to really feel any difference.

14. My mother takes it along with SAM e |
|
It seems to have helped her quite a lot. Five years ago, she could barely walk and a doctor told her to get an immediate hip replacement. Now she still has trouble walking but she can get around much better than before since taking supplements three times a day.
I buy vitamins online with volume suppliers and get them much cheaper than in drug stores. I mix glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM and something called SAM e (over the counter compound), along with a small amount of Fosamax and collagen. I requires a pill making machine which you can buy for about $20 and some empty gelatin capsules. SAM e has been studied quite a lot in Europe and apparently has shown promise for helping to build cartilage and also reducing the pain of osteoarthritis.
