My Professor told me one of my essays is being taught to doctoral students |
|
He's going for his PHD in American Indian studies and will be finished this year sometime. I ran into him today and he told me that in one of his doctoral seminars they had to read and study an essay that I wrote which was about Blackfeet Indian author James Welch and was published in a magazine about a year and a half ago. I said" What did you think of it?" And, he goes, " I was thinking, damn, this is written by one of my students." haha It's funny that he had to study some of my work in order to get his doctorate. When people start having to get into my head to study intellectual thought, then you know the world may be about ready to crash and burn anytime soon. :)

I so got lucky on that one. I do have some writing skills though. Just need to be more focused and less of a procrastinator, you know?
But yeah, thanks. :)

I once had a prof write on one of my papers something like "This is the best paper I've read on Richard II in many years." I'm still stoked.

whomever teaches the seminar must've read the magazine it was in, as it is local, and just liked it or something. The funny thing is it took me about an hour to write and maybe another hour or so tinkering it for a few days afterward. I do see something in it that I would like to change though. Well, not change, but I would like to elaborate more on what I was saying. It glares out at me whenever I read it. I was pretty happy to hear that though. I'm an undergrad, farm hick, ex-wrestling coach and PhD students have to read my work, haha. Too funny.
Richard II is an interesting historical figure. I wouldn't mind taking a look at that if you still have it. My younger brother is a history buff too, he'd love to check out something like that.
Thanks for the words.

You're still the man though, WC. I need to get more op-eds published just so I can be in your league one of these days. :)
