I've zapped the PRAM and reset the PMU
I'm gonna do a software restore next, but I have to find ONE MORE FUCKING DISC

Try unplugging any peripherals except the mouse and keyboard, and if you're running OS X, hold down the X key when restarting for a safe boot...
You should also have a hardware diagnostics disk that could help...
