FReeper Quote of the day
Edited on Fri Sep-16-05 09:57 AM by Zuni
This discussion is about drilling for oil off the coast of Florida:

To: Cincinatus' Wife
Why 100 miles? You could put these 20 miles off shore and you couldn't see them. You would also be creating a Eco system around the rigs that make them fish magnets. In Louisiana the rig fishing is fantastic.
The other boost is the supply services industry that follows the rigs.

1. Actually, lots of fish food grows on submerged oil rigs.
Lots of fish food means lots of fish. The sucba diving around rigs is supposedly good too.

3. Oh, I wouldn't say oil rigs are good for the environment.
I've seen too much oil washed up on Texas beaches.

Perhaps it's the abandoned rigs that make good fishing and diving. That makes more sense. But I will admit to mot being an expert.

4. It's crazy man.
I visted the aquariam in Corpus Christi a couple of years ago, and there was an exhibit explaining how oil rigs contribute to the gulf ecosystem.

6. Idiot. Catalina Island is visible - sometimes just the extreme tips -- and
it's 26 miles offshore.

That's just a minor point of idiocy here...
