1. I would think that would be perfectly safe
The only change that is happening is that the water is changing phases, from the liquid to the solid.

Sorry for the physics/chemistry explanation.

10. I read somewhere that what is bad is
reusing them after you drink the water. The plastic they use for those bottles are supposed to leech something. I don't remember reading anything about freezing the bottles though. I do that too, especially if I go for a long car trip and don't want to pay $2 for a bottle of water. I just freeze a few and take them with me.

3. Somehow the plastic bottle makes it taste funny after they
freeze up. Not sure why.

7. I do not wrap my phone in foil
but I really have noticed it, especially when they freeze overnight in my car and I take them in to the office the next day.
I don't think it is really bad for you, per se, but I have noticed a difference.

12. That was an email urban legend
It was circulating a few months ago. Here's some info I found on it, in case you're interested:

http://www.jhsph.edu/publichealthnews/articles/halden_dioxins.html

OC&PA: What do you make of this recent email warning that claims dioxins can be released by freezing water in plastic bottles?

RH: No. This is an urban legend. There are no dioxins in plastics. In addition, freezing actually works against the release of chemicals. Chemicals do not diffuse as readily in cold temperatures, which would limit chemical release if there were dioxins in plastic, and we don’t think there are.

14. I do it all of the time.
I open the bottle and pour some of the water into the planter though. I once had a bottle crack when the water expanded.
