Construction zones-why can't they tell you what lane is closed
as soon as there are signs at the beginning of the construction zone. Sometimes you can see the flashing arrows up ahead but not always. It would help if they told you what lanes are closed ahead right away rather than waiting until you're nearly on top of the actual construction area.

 off

Not meant to put down road workers. You do a good job in harsh conditions.

Signs keep saying "one lane road ahead" and "use both lanes to merge point". About 1/4 mile away the sign will say "left(right) lane closed ahead. Hey, PENNDOT, tell me which fucking lane is closed and how far away. I'm dragging a 53 foot trailer, and I'd prefer not to take out a soccer mom:rant:

2. To me it would be a lot safer if they did.
I can't remember how many times I've seen cars bunch up just before the lane closes. And in highly populated areas it would be even worse.

3. Out here it seems somewhat inconsistent...
Sometimes they tell you which lane, and in plenty of time to get over...and sometimes they don't...

You never know... :hi:

7. Hello Peggy!
I noticed in southern Ca. that most road projects were at night when the traffic load was lower.

15. Maybe I was thinking of all the major freeway work.
I was told this by some relatives in LA. Anyway, I'm glad you're here.

13. Because it changes ...

Usually, a construction zone area is defined that is larger than the actual area in which construction is taking place at any given moment. In the areas where construction is taking place, for part of the time one lane will be closed while at others another side will be closed.
