2. Good grief! A man who has to use his wits?! Ian Fleming would be |
|
PROUD.
Of course, like Timothy Dalton, people won't dig a harsh guy who puts wit above gadets. People will want the stupid double entendres and gadgets.
(I dunno why Dalton is disliked, but any Bond fan of the book era will acknowledge that Dalton's portrayal, by far, is closest to that of the Fleming novels. Connery would be #2, although Roger Moore in "For Your Eyes Only" (after the teaser) is refreshingly cold and callous and very much Bond-like, in the way Bond should be.
:bounce:
I can't wait for Casino Royale to come out.
But, yeah, nix the silliness and 99% of the double entendres and give it a gritty production with a bit of freshness and soul, and they've got a winner. (well, to me, but I'm not a mainstream audience member. I like art and creativity and I have a brain. These things are usually frowned upon in the mass-media industry. Much like most of the others...)

The Living Daylights actually felt like an action movie, instead of a farcical adventure.

3. Sounds like what Ian Fleming originally had in mind with Bond. |
|
Ian Fleming (the creator of the James Bond character) certainly didn't have Bond driving around in Aston-Martins with ejector seats or machine guns. Or Aston-Martins that could dive underwater and turn into submarines.
The gadgets were fun, but it definitely wasn't what Fleming envisioned.

5. If my memory serves me correctly |
|
Fleming didn't want Bond to drink his martini shaken either - somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind lurks the notion that the books have him asking for 'stirred not shaken'.

i don't mind the occasional gadget, but since Moore took over, they've kind of overwhelmed all the movies since!

"We're trying to reinvent Bond. He's 28 - no Q, no gadgets."
Producers have still not decided who will play the spy in Casino Royale, which is due out next year. The most recent star, Pierce Brosnan, is 52.
A wide array of actors, including Daniel Craig, Clive Owen and Dougray Scott, have been mooted as possible contenders."
Daniel Craig DOB 1968 Clive Owen DOB 1964 Dougray Scott DOB 1965 I am horrible at maths, but aren't two of these guys 40+ and one of them pushing 40? (close enough by the time they start shooting) Playing 28?
