I just saw Lord of War, ask me anything.
Incredibly smart movie, Nick Cage gives a great performance. Lots of wit, lots of drama, surprisingly little action (especially on the active part of Cage's character).

Extremely passionate, hits some really terrible events (Sierra Leone, Liberia, the Balkans), but it felt extremely smart.

I won't spoil any of it, but I really want to point out the end message of the movie- the disclaimer/context/epilogue type thing. It's not a spoiler, as it doesn't actually give away any plot. Still, I'll paraphrase it:

"While private gunrunning thrives, the largest arms dealers in the world are the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, and China.

They are also the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council."

That's really all that can be said, isn't it?

Also, these lyrics have been in my head for the past damn week, and I gotta get them out:

"Well we spit and we cursed
And our bleeding hearts bursed
But even ten million souls marching in February couldn't stop the worst
Couldn't reverse.

Don't wanna live
Don't wanna give
Don't wanna be
E-M-P-I-R-E."

-The Empire Strikes First, by Bad Religion.
