I was fired yesterday
and that really sucks. But, I have a roof over my head and (hopefully) a social assistance net that will get me thru until I find another job. I really am very lucky. I'm saying this because suckitude is relative, so to speak.:toast:

2. Yes
Why do I have Gloria Gaynor running thru my head? <heee>. I actually hated where I worked. Not the actual job, just the place. I'm not completely free from it, but I don't want to get into it too much here.

3. We need more Canadian socialist truck drivers here in the States
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 08:01 PM by Droopy
I meet a lot of drivers from Canada and I see all kinds of Canadian trucks rolling up and down I-75 here in Ohio. We need some lefties to come down here from Canada to start preaching to the American trucker via the cb airwaves. There are too many good ol' boys that have had their brains fouled by American right wing radio.

8. Too bad I'm a good ol' girl
who doesn't know how to drive a truck. But if I did I would so be there. I always thought I would enjoy it. Being alone, and all that.

11. You can be a woman and drive a truck
Your chances of being paid attention to are also higher if you are a female trucker ;) I could get on there and start talking about how Bush is running us into the ground and the bastards would just start questioning my masculinity.

We can get you some truck driving lessons, too.

But I'm just joking around. I tell everybody on here who is looking for a job to try truck driving. The jobs are plentiful. But I understand that most folks aren't willing to do a lifestyle change like that. And it can be a hard life being a trucker.

12. I know you were joking around
However, I was serious about thinking I might enjoy it. I love driving long distances by myself (did it all the time when I had a car - Winnipeg to Calgary in 12 hours! Yeehaw! That's about 1200 kms distance.) Just put some tunes on and goooo!

6. But I live in Alberta
the most redneck of the Provinces. Hopefully gov. of Alberta HR will float me rent money and enough to get my phone working again. Sigh. It's been an awful 4 years since my last good job went to China.

On Edit: Sorry about your job loss. that sucks. Good Luck!

It's never easy to lose employment--even if you hate your job, it's a loss nevertheless.

Glad you can recieve some sort of assistance until you find something else.

Really sorry this happened to you ((((Canadian Socialist))))

10. I HOPE to get some assistance
I'm not eligible for EI as I was a contractor. However, after a couple of days, I'm looking forward to the challenge of finding a new job. I've decided I want to do marketing/pr/communications or something in that field. I don't have a lot of experience, and I'm getting a little long in the tooth, but I'm smart and have good ideas. Thanks for your hugs everyone :grouphug:
