Poll question: How many children do you have?
Of course, count adoptive and biological children. None for me. I'm not even in a relationship, in fact, right now.

I don't mind kids, but I don't want any either.

However, as if in punnishment for this, I have been bombarded with encounters with cute babies and children this week. Soooooo many cute babies, everywhere I went. It was unreal.

I am a teacher and an administrator in an elementary school plus with the two you see above. I feel very lucky. Kids are great with right guidance. Too bad they can't look to their government as a good role model for ethical, moral and fair behavior.

59. Yeah,...just a teeny bit fatigued.
My husband and I adopted each of our children at birth. 3 out of the 5 have special medical needs.

I adore every single one of them and consider myself very blessed.

I have NO tolerance for DU members who refer to my children as Bipedal Vermin. Just wanted to state that for the record.

60. I know. I'm constantly amazed at the level of vitriol aimed at kids on DU
Can you imagine if someone here referred to blacks or Jews or Hispanics or women as "bipedal vermin?" ... They would be run out of here so quickly it would make your head spin.

Yet, it's somehow okay to heap scorn on kids or those who choose to have kids.

I really feel sorry for these people. They have no idea what joy they are blocking out of their lives. I'm not saying everybody should have their own kids; I just think that the "proud-to-dislike-kids group" here might want to give children more a chance ... Yes, some kids are difficult to be around and some act up in public and so forth, but to dismiss an entire group of people like that is pretty sad.

55. 2. I'm a ZPG type.
For many years my wife and I weren't sure we wanted kids at all, and after one, we were ready to quit.

But the big guy put pressure on us to give him a sibling, and after some debate, we agreed to do it when he was 4 years old.

It's been great, both boys have been wonderful, and I love them and their mother very much.

But I've had my hoses disconnected.
