8. I hate to break it to you, but most people have a "spock" ear.
Which reminds me, my oldest daughter has an ear lobe with no cartlidge in it. It's perfectly smooth inside, which really makes it look like an elf ear. The weirdest thing is that I didn't even notice it for the first six months, but when I showed it to the doctor, she said, "oh yeah, that." :D

I lie awake at night and wonder what she will do to shock me :D

She has the top part with the fold, but the inside of her ear is totally smoooth where that inner ridge should be. I'll see if I can find a pic because it's hard to describe.

Never gained a pound except when pregnant with my oldest (I weighed 131 the day she was born - was back at 105 three weeks later).

It even continued after 30.

Then I hit 35, and had my third child, the second in two years.

Exercise is my best friend now, LOL. I'm in better shape than I have ever been, and I'm 39.

You don't understand. What one person sees as a drawback to themselves may in fact be looked on as being a highly attractive feature by another. Women will be bummed by having a large nose for example. I however think that's a turn on.

54. Ouch. I feel your pain.
My mom has had horrible ankle problems. She broke it in three places, had it pinned - but the doc never recommended therapy. Years later, she had ankle fusion surgery. But no matter what, it still swells - even when she's off her feet for days.

Did the reconstruction work for you? And did you get physical therapy for it?

95. Yes, the reconstruction (partial) has been very helpful.
I've been incident free for 6.5 years. Actually, I've turned it a few times, but no injury. Until now.

And yes, I went to physical therapy and it too was helpful. It's not too late for your mom. She should definitely go to PT. They will teach her how to stretch, strengthen and improve balance. It is helpful. Swimming strengthens it as well and is non-impact.

79. You too, eh? Have you gotten used to pain by having a lot, or
is it that pain just doesn't bother you?

In my case, it's the former, but it still shocks my family once in a while. Yesterday morning, I had a muscle spasm in my back that was so violent that it knocked me onto the floor as if Ihad been shot, and tore some muscle fiber so I have a serving-spoon-size hematoma as a reminder.

But in the afternoon, the Little Guy and I went for an 8-mile bike ride. What the hell, it was going to hurt whether I was on the couch all day or doing something, so why not do something? Mrs R. still expresses surprise that I do stuff like that, even though she's seen it quite a more than once.

80. Wow, sounds pretty rough!
I guess for me it is just the way I am. I did have brothers that used to beat me up (playingly) when I was little, so I kind of had to be tough. But, it is just a natural thing for me.

91. Hey, it just takes practice. I've taught myself not to flinch, which
really freaks out doctors when they do painful stuff like cortisone injections. Or my older son, when an energetic trout drove a fish hook into my thumb; I cut off the loop at the end of the hook and pushed the barbed part through my thumb and out the other side. Then put the trout back into the water; I figured any fish that feisty deserved to escape the frying pan.

Plus, as I said, the you're going to have the pain whether you mope around and moan or get out and do something, so you might as well go do something.

Consequently, I have short arms & legs, especially my humerous and femur.

People are also amazed at my weight. I look like I weight about 20 pounds less, than I actually do.

I swear, if my legs matched my torso, I'd be about 6'4", but I'm only about 5'10".

82. I have an "anti-birthmark"
Edited on Mon Sep-19-05 11:07 AM by Rob H.
At least that's what I call it--whereas most people's birthmarks are caused by excess pigment, mine is marked by a total absence of pigment. (When I get a little sun, it's still stays snow-white because there's no melanin there.) I guess it's a good thing that it's on my chest where no one can see it.

I'm fairly pale anyway, so it isn't as prominent as it is for some with darker skin. I have it on my ankles, underarms and eyelids.

I also have a big white streak in my hair from it (my hair is medium brown).

Average height and build, a little paunch due to being 44 and not exercising, got all my hair, 2 of everything I should have 2 of, one of everything I should have one of, everything works as it should, etc.

But I have several mental traits I'd like to get rid of...

a thread all in itself.

121. Webbed feet!
I learned to respect and not mock those with "webbed feet" at a party at my church. I was telling folks about a local "haunted house" owned by a small, very inter-related sect in our area. I said the rumor was the sect members "all had webbed feet because they were so inter-bred"

Out of the 14 people at the party (almost all converts - so no "interbreeding") two took great offense and said they, too, had webbed feet and did NOT have weird-looking family trees. Almost every time I repeat the story about how stupid my comment was, someone announces they have webbed toes. Once it was my sister-in-law (whose family I do suspect of inter-breeding, but that's another story).

123. LOL, da bomb....
funny story...

my 14 year old cousin was trying to be cool with me, dh, and his older sister (26, 26, 16 respectively- at the time). We were making fun of him and he said "I know I'm Da Bomb!" We said, 'you can't just declare yourself 'da bomb', someone else has to say it, ha ha ha!' so he thinks for a minute...then says...

"Well, my Mom says I'm 'Da Bomb', so shut up!"

we were  so he then adds...

"Grandma thinks so too!"

Kinda had to be there, but we still make fun of him, he's 20 now...
