How do you wash grapes?
Is there some secret trick to it? I just drizzled dishwashing soap on it, rinsed with warm water, then cold. Then I thought "was that right?"

3. But seriously.... I turn the netted bag inside out and rinse in cold water
and let them drain in the zink.

I figure there's pesticides from the grapes on the inside of the bag- hence the inside out thing.

2. I wouldn't use the soap.
:)

Usually, I put them in a bowl and rinse with water.

9. But don't you worry about pesticides?
can water get rid of them effectively?

11. Doesn't soap add to the chemicals?
I don't know much about pesticides, but I'm not sure that adding to them would be a good idea. Maybe organic soap.

Better yet, organic grapes. However, I know how expensive those are...

5. You didn't actually use soap?
Cold water run over them in a colander will wash them fine.

10. That sounds practical to me.
I remember Ziploc used to make Veggie Bags - they had air vents in them so the veggies wouldn't rot so quickly. But I haven't seen them in several years.

13. My secret: baking soda dip
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) lowers the surface tension, thus enabling to wash off residual dirt and any other substances. Then I rinse off thoroughly with tepid water, and chill.

Grapes...yummmm!!!

15. Now that's the kind of tip I was looking for!
But I'd be sure to rinse well, cause I HATE the taste of baking soda.

29. I love to use baking soda to wash veggies and fruits
If you think it works on grapes, try a little bit when washing greens. I washed something green once, must have been some spinach, and I swear, the baking soda dip turned the water a mucky black the first wash. By the time I was done rinsing and swirled them through the spinner to dry, they were clean!!!

30. That's a great idea!
I used to eat frozen raspberries when I was a kid. My dad had several bushes, and we'd freeze them for the winter. Yum! :9

14. No, no. Drizzle dishwashing liquid into your mouth and then eat grapes.
It is much more efficient. Chew well, though.

18. usually, no I don't bother...
But I had a friend who was a fanatic about washing them - with dish soap. She's a pharmacist who works with a big company, so I figured she knew what she was doing. It just takes longer to rinse.
