*mumble* I hate migraines.
I have a history of a number of head injuries, so my doctor said that PCS would probably occur and did (this was five years ago). They were frequent as I recovered from the last injury and have begun to slack in the frequency. However, I get one about every three months. Due to that, I have to take a lot of pain meds when I'm having them and still feel unfocused, naseous, and overall sick the next day. Is there anything that anyone can recommend?

6. Nibble at it. It's spicy and hot but for some weird reason it is said
to settle stomachs. Hence the old "drink ginger ale when you're sick" thing that our grandmothers liek to tell us.

Mind you I think there was more ginger in their ginger ale than there is nowadays, unless you buy the fancy kind.

3. Lots of meds in the imitrex family.
I got a concussion when I was about 5, and started to get migraines with aura shortly after. For many years, any treatment they offered didn't really help.

Probably around 98 or so, I started taking Imitrex when I got the migraine. It makes you feel a little fluttery for about 10 minutes, but other than that, I have not has side effects. There are also other forms of the same base drug in imitrex that last longer, Amerge, Avert, Mobic, etc. In most cases, these will wipe out your migraine within an hour. Sometimes, they haven't worked, I would say 15% of the time. But that is a hell of an improvement over nothing!

About 3 years ago, I had a spell where I was getting a lot of them, and the doc put me on verapamil to prevent them. I would say, if you are only getting one every 3 months or so, though, Imitrex or something like it should do the trick.

Good luck!

7. i get bad headaches
that are either migraine, or cluster, headaches. (per neurologist.)

the symptoms are very similar. worst ones ending with painful reaction to light and sound, resulting in vomiting, voiding of bowels.

a friend recommended that i ask my doctor for a prescription for fiorinol. she used it during a pregnancey that caused killer headaches.

it works most of the time.

then a student where i work mentioned the new excedrin for migraines that is out.

tried it and it has worked everytime.

of course YMMV.

good luck.
