Arrested Development is WAAAAAYYY better than Everybody Loves Raymond. |
|
Yet it only wins ONE Emmy? A travesty. This just proves that the people who vote for these awards are clueless hacks. Here's a list of the winners. At least the Daily Show won some awards. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/18/arts/14emmy-list.html?ex=1129780800&en=ea2699e4316a9592&ei=5087&excamp=GGGNemmyresultsDo you think the results were about right? Which corrections would you have made?

but I do have to agree: it's way better than Raymond.
The thing I hate about these award shows is that they tend to focus on what people are wearing instead of anything else. My God. Who cares about what a person is wearing????

I dont know why, either, I guess it's because I just dont like his comedy. Give me David Cross or Bill Hicks any day!

It's one of those shows that drops so many references to prior episodes that one who hasn't seen the series from episode one can feel behind the curve at times.
Admittedly, Ron Howard's narration usually explains the back reference but there's still something missing from the experience.
I didn't start watching the show until FOX started rerunning the 2nd season as 4 episode blocks on Friday evenings. I bought the Season 1 DVD set the day after watching that first Friday evening block and the back references (such as Kitty "Woo Hoo Spring Break!" and Lucille 2) were so much funnier after seeing the original episodes they came from.

8. It is rather "insider", that's true. |

ANd that can be confusing if you haven't watched all the prior episodes. But I think one of the main reasons people didn't watch the show as much, was the time slot. Now people will watch and it will get the recognition it deserves.

5. Emmies make the Golden Globes look respectable |
|
They have rewarded some good work but it still boils down to who you are and who you know and is your show made by someone we like.
I mean how in the hell did Ian Mcshane not win for Deadwood. I like Spader Ok but Al Swearingen is a character for the ages.
BTW, don't forget, Arrested Development premieres tonight in its new time slot, 8:00pm ET.

That this was Raymond's last season was probably a large factor in it getting the award.
I saw a poll last year in Time Magazine (I think it was) that Raymond was the most popular comedy among Republicans, and Will and Grace for Democrats.
I like Raymond better than Will and Grace, but finding out Patricia Heaton (sp?) was a "feminist" Republican ruined it for me.
