Need help . I have some 2003 New Orleans pics on floppy discs |
but the images seem to be degrading and some are one-third gone. Does anyone know what causes this. I am printing them to keep the images but wonder why these discs degrade. Any idea?

1. Floppies are much like cassette tapes. |
It's a flimsy magnetic media that degrades quickly. Copy them to your computer's hard drive immediately.

2. storage conditions are a lot of it. |
cool and dry are keywords. As are "keep away from magnetic stuff, like speakers." Magnetic forces can cause degradation in your images.

3. Maybe keeping them cool is the answer. |
They are not really near any speakers save for the computer speakers which we rarely use.
