Another overnight show request thread
I need some new requests; you know the deal, I play everything. If I can't get it on tonight it'll be on in 24 hours, so what'll it be?

3. Hey, darlin'! Do you really play everything?
I'm sorry to say I haven't listened to your show, but I will. My internet connection at home was out almost a month, but finally back now.

I have been listening to one of my all-time favorite bands tonight - Johnny Clegg and Savuka. Ever heard of them?

Great, great stuff. Interracial band from South Africa that has been together since the apartheid days.

I know it is a requst from left field, but hey, you never know til you ask, right?

If you have access to any of their music, I'll make a specific song request!

:hi:

13. Somehow, I knew you would appreciate Johnny Clegg
Do you have the album "Cruel, Crazy, Beautiful World?"

If not, I'll pick something from "Scatterlings of Africa". It's good, too!

17. "Spirit is the Journey"
They are all good - though my faves are on that other album - so I picked one that has some sentimental value for me.

What say you, darlin'?

Spirit is the Journey
(Johnny Clegg and Savuka)

Ploughed the moon reached an island
Balanced on the edge of the sky
But something always stayed the same
Deep down inside
No matter where I've been the places don't count
Summer in a mountain town
No matter where I've been the places don't count
And I feel let down
'Cause nobody told me
Spirit is the journey
Body is the bus
I am the driver
From dust to dust
Spirit is a story
Body is a book
I am the writer
Together we flow
We hold on, and when the story ends
We hold on, until it begins again
We hold on, we hold on...
I never knew I had one
Till I saw yours shine
Spilling from your laughter
Sparkling in your eyes
Sharing my confusion, sharing my surprise
At finding part of me in you, alive
'Cause nobody told me
Spirit is the journey
Body is the bus
I am the driver
From dust to dust
Trying to be near you
Searching for a way
Listening to your life song
Before it fades away
We hold on, and when the story ends
We hold on, we hold on.
Spirit is the journey
Body is the bus
I am the driver from dust to dust
Now I'm falling, falling away
I hear you calling, calling my name
Spirit move on, move on
Pass my eyes on, on to the next one
I will be long gone, long gone
Across the distance, this divide
I will be with you forever
Till you reach the other side
So hold on, sing this life song
Sing "hold on, hold on, hold on
Hold on!"

6. you got it!
I put "Thunder Road" in the rotation a couple of days ago; I know it's a song that's been played to death and I intentied listening to it for years, but I had an itch to hear it again recently and I was just blown away by how wonderful that song is, especially the lyrics...

11. Hey enigmatic!
Hope you're enjoying the great fall weather! :bounce:

Do you have anything by Robbie Lane and the Disciples, from the 60's? My cousin...(well, not sure if he's a cousin...my great uncle's son, whatever title he is to me) used to be in that band. They actually replaced Ronnie Hawkin's backup band after they went on to greater things (aka The Band).

I've never heard any of their stuff, and would love to.

It's beautiful; this is my favorite time of year by far...

I've never heard of them, but give me 24 hours and I'll see what I can do. I've got some Hawk though, anything by him or anybody else?

16. Sure, he will be a great substitute
A couple of songs by RL& the D's hit the Canadian charts back in '64 - Ain't Love a Funny Thing, and Fannie Mae.

I think they were bluesy...here's a bit more about them - they were a local Toronto band Robbie Lane and the Disciples (as it's a cached page it'll take a while to load)
