If you were Home Depot, where would you sell the beer? |
|
We just started selling Coca-Cola. Inside the building, that is. (We've always had it in machines outside.)
They gave us $3 million to renovate and add on; one of the things we were told to buy with it was this new special services desk that has a display refrigerator in it (and that also has a more-logical way of routing all the Ethernet cables). Now we have Cokes.
I was discussing this with a cashier, and she mentioned that we need to add a new product: Beer.
I'm not entirely certain I want a bunch of drunk patrons getting upset when they find out oriented-strand board went up to $18 a sheet (it's nearly there now) or shingles to $11 a bundle like they almost are and start taking it out on the associates, but it's an interesting idea.
Now! Assume you're selling beer in a place beer shouldn't be sold. Would you put it in Inside Garden, Outside Garden, Kitchen and Bath, or Building Materials?

What goes together better than alcohol and power tools? Maybe Lawn and Garden next to the chainsaws?

|
As are the weedwhackers, Honda lawnmowers, noxious chemicals, etc., etc., etc.

Isn't it one of the elements for a successful lawn watering system?
Oh, don't look at me that way, you know people who've done it.

I told him if he has to pee outside, at least mark the corners of our property so stray dogs will know.

Actually, I used to love shopping at Schwegmann's grocery in N'wawlins. You could get a foot long hot dog and a beer for a buck, and off you went "makin' groceries".

12. Put it in the paint department so Rush can sniff it out............... |
|
when he buys his cases of spraypaint and trash bags! I really do believe that Rush is huffing paint judging by some of the conclusions he arrives at on W-GOP Radio! Rush started out on Darvon rushes and ended up in the paint department copping a buzz I'd bet! It's a wonder Rush hasn't flown out a window like Art's daughter back in the sixties!
Anyway back to the beer! I think it's a HELL of an idea! Can't afford to bulid anything, so might as well get drunk! Beer prices are stable because the FReeper Fundies would revolt on Bush if beer went up like lumber and steel has!

16. The only problem with selling beer... |
|
is that we'd need forty pages in the store-use markdown book for that department.
Oh, and there's no cupholder on a reach truck, so where would you put your beer while you drove?
