1. I think it varies regionally
In my area, Verizon has better reception than the other options, but I've found when I travel that isn't always the case...

2. Cingular.
As long as you don't plan on walking through your house talking on your cellphone...they're pretty good. :eyes: :hi: We had Verizon and they were EXCELLENT!!!!

4. I use Consumer Cellular. No contracts.
You can start out with a limited plan to see how you like the cell phone then upgrade if you want, or cancel.

5. Cingular SUCKS
I had AT&T (and liked them) until the merger with Cingular, when their customer service went to shit immediately.

I currently use Alltel, they're decent, but not widely available. Many of my friends have Verizon and they keep trying to get me to switch. They love it (in SoCal anyway, no clue on their reception anywhere else).

7. I use Verizon as well...
Great service in Charlotte, NC. I just signed a new contract and got a new phone yesterday - it's a really nice Motorola model. It has great reception but, as a trade-off, it has a higher than average SAR output.

I've had bad experiences with Alltel and Sprint.

8. sprint
yeah they sort of suck but sprint & nextel are giving a couple months free to ppl in the katrina affected area codes which is nice

esp. since we couldn't hardly make or receive a call for more than 2 weeks!

11. My home and office desk phones.
That way no one can bug me when I am not at my desk. I don't have a beeper either. I'm a lawyer. I don't see why all these children need mobile telephones with cameras and whatever when I don't need them.

13. If you don't plan on using it a lot
This is your best bet. Jason and I both have this service and haven't had any problems. Pay as you go is good if you just want it for emergencies or to check in, but if you're going to be doing a lot of talking or want a bunch of fancy, useless crap, a monthly plan would be better.
