I know that real estate in Baton Rouge is scarce because the evacuees are snapping it up as fast as it is put on the market. If you rent, your ability to find a place is even worse.
I can imagine that other parts of Southern Louisiana are just as swamped. It was probably easier to bring the family to Houston since New Orleans mail, HANO (I think), and other things are in town there.
