Numerical paradox, that one! Add any amount to infinity, and you still get infinity! Sort of like multiplying by zero, but more mind-numbing.

two numbers are defined to be the same size if they can be put in a one-to-one correspondence with each other. If we let {1,2,3,4,...} be "infinity" and {0,1,2,3,4,....} be "infinity plus one," we can match up 1 and 0, 2 and 1, 3 and 2, and so on down the line - therefore the sets have the same size, and infinity equals infinity plus one. To do infinity plus two, just match up {1,2,3,4,.....} with {-1,0,1,2,3,4,...}. It follows that infinity equals infinity plus k for any positive integer k.

In fact, infinity equals infinity plus infinity (which is 2 times infinity) and in fact infinity equals k times infinity. These are harder to explain.
