1. I didn't see the first season, but did see the hour long primer
but so far this new show is as predictable and far-fetched as anything I've ever seen.

12. My taste in television is absymal....
I also watch a soap opera (Guiding Light-over 20 years now), Star Trek TNG and DS9, and loved Friends and Frazier. I love reruns of Northern Exposure, Bonanza and Bewitched and am addicted to Green Acres.

All they have in common is that they're all predictable and far-fetched so at least I'm consistent.

Personally, I'm subscribing to the Philip K Dick type their all dead or dying theory.
Walt was whispering something like "There is no one.."
no one.. left alive?

32. "Why aren't these people having sex with each other?"
I know the answer to this question!

I read an online story yesterday about the show (can't for the life of me remember where I saw it) but -- one of the actors mentioned that since the show was on at 8pm last season (family hour), they couldn't really get into serious relationships. This season, the show is on at 9pm. The person in the article said that "men and women have needs," so I think we'll be seeing a lot more romance.

Just as long as all the women on the island keep their hands of Sayid!
He's mine. LOL.

What surprises me is that the guys, being guys, could last that long without their needs being met. There's probably some serious self-pleasuring going on beneath those blankets every night.

Very cool season opener. Now we just need to wait until next week to see what happens to the seagoers.

I loved that we got to see that moment of warmth between Jack and his father, when his father wasn't putting him down or deriding him, but simply giving him gentle guidance. I'm anxious to see now what happened that drove Jack back to an "all-science" approach to life, after his brush with the miraculous. Or to see if Desmond has played a part in the backstories of any other characters.

It's almost a tingly feeling: one major question answered, a whole SLEW of questions arising from that answer.

ON EDIT: Desmond can't be that bad a guy. Anybody who listens to Petula Clark in the morning can't be all bad.

Also someone was asking what Walt whispered to Shannon. It was backward. Played backwards it says something like Don't press the button, the button is bad

Go here and explore for the sound files(if you have flash on your pc:

http://www.oceanicflight815.com/

click on the bar code at the bottom of the page and type in the blank theislandiswaiting

No idea yet if that's an authentic page from the script, but intriguing, huh? My guess is it isn't authentic, or was rejected

The drug Desmond gave himself was marked with CR then the numbers, and I was wondering if C R meant Cell rejuvenation. Also, Jack worked at St Sebastian hospital, interesting because Sebastian was a martyr pierced with arrows, think about that as an insight into Jack's character
There's a bunch of stuff at that site

I went away for 2 minutes and when I came back Jack & Locke were in some underground place w/ that guy from the beginning of the show.
What did I miss-- where the heck are they??? I thought it was a long hike between the camp (where Jack was) and the hatch (where Locke was) so how was it that they both ended up in this other place together?

41. Awesome LOST theory....
I just finished reading this odd LOST theory and thought it was cool enough to share:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/theizzy/157121.html#cutid1

...Its the theory that was devised by a French Mathematician named Marseille Roussau in the year 1988. He used a series of numbers to explain his theory. Now I know you're not going to believe this but here goes.

4 8 15 16 23 42

Let me explain...

The 4 stands for 4 degrees of separation 'not 6 or 7 as commonly stated.) Roussau believed that everyone in the world was connected by four different people. So in theory could meet yourself by using four different people connected to you. Example: Your brother's, boss's, neighbor nephew, knows your mirror. Hard to believe, I know but keep reading.

The 8 stands for the eight continent, or the only place in the world where you could meet your mirror. He calculated it to be somewhere in the south pacific. Now we know its not actually as large as the other contintents but its used figurtively because everyone in all 7 continents could meet there mirror on the 8th universal continent.

The 15 stands for the chances of you acually meeting yourself on this place, as in 15 out of 4,815,162,342. Look at the second set "815." Ring any bells? Interesting huh?

The 16 stands for the maximum amount of people that could encounter thier twin all at the same time. Think about the number of main characters.

The 23 is the number of years apart your twin and yourself are. You are not the same age as your twin. By chance and probablity it takes 23 years exactly for the same genes that made you to be connected again to form another you.

The 42 stands for the maximimum number of years your twin and yourself can be alive at the same time. However people do die at diffferent times so thats why everyone isn't dead at 75. For example my twin was born on Sept. 6 2003 b/c i was born on Spet. 6 1980. Now that doesn't mean i will die in the year 2045, I could, but its not set in stone. My twin could die when he is 16, and then the whole thing starts over again.

46. That is a TOTALLY awesome theory!
And it kind of goes along with the ideas I've been having lately, about there being some sort of human cloning experiment going on. Somebody has created a living laboratory so they can enact their own version of Rousseau's theory. Very cool idea!

42. Can someone fill me in- pleeeeeeeze!
I stepped away from TV set briefly and its like if you blink you miss 1/2 the story-- towards the end, Jack was in the camp & Locke was at the hatch down which Kate had disappeared. I come back and Jack and Locke were in some weird underground place--where? Down the hatch?Guess I was thinking it was too far a hike for Jack to get there in 2 minutes, but maybe that's where they are. What the heck happened while I was gone?

44. bad news for all us LOST fans....
apparently the writers are making it all up as they go along. Did you see this past Sunday's NYTimes? ABC obviously want's the show to go on for as long as possible......there is no grand overall unifying mythology behind the show. Making it up as they go along.

45. I don't think that's true...
but if it is, they're doing a damn good job of it.

I can't tell you how tired I get of all these doomsayers who go around moaning, "It's just gonna fall flat on its face in a couple of years...They won't be able to sustain the mystery...It's going to have a really cheesy resolution...It's going to be another Twin Peaks...It's going to be another X-Files...We may as well not get too attached to it because it's just going to let us down in the end..." I swear they sound like people who have had one too many romances gone sour. It's like the television fan's version of "A Boy Like That" from "West Side Story."

As far as I'm concerned, I'm willing to take the ride for as long as it remains fun and intriguing and thought-provoking. If I ever find myself getting bored of it or getting so far ahead of it that nothing surprises me anymore, I'll stop watching. But I'm not waiting for that day to arrive, and I'm certainly not looking forward to it just so I can tell people "See? I told you the show was gonna break your heart!"

48. writers lie
The best writers are excellent liers.

I believe they are writing each story and fleshing out details ona weekly basis but someone has at least some sort of idea what it is all about and what at least some of the major mysteries contain.

The TV Show Babylon Five was created and planned to run 5 years (which it did). The creator had many things planned and figured out and he made adjustments (cast changes and such) along the way and even allowed other writers to do some of the shows but he still ended up where he said he would all along.

Now X FIles on the other hand, they were making that one up out of nothing. I gave up in the last year so don't know if it ever made any sense. It was a great show but the backing mythos was sloppy.

50. they do have a tentative blueprint
but they change it depending on how viewers react to aspects of the story. for example, Hurley's lotto numbers weren't going to be a big deal but viewers showed a great deal of interest in the meaning of the numbers so they made it more of a central focus of the story.

52. sayid may have the looks but hurley definitely 1 of the most interesting
characters of all of em... was expecting the stereotypical comic fat guy you usually get on tv but nope, pretty multi demensional. I do hope it all hangs together over time and comes to some kind of resolution... that they have created such satisfying characters and minor plot resolutions within the 1 hr. framework gives me some hope that they will do well with the series as a whole.
