That thing is so terrifyingly beautiful.

I used to find hurricanes to be kinda cool. I followed them religiously. I'd watch Weather Channel all night for updates.

I can remember that Andrew was my first big hurricane... watched the CNN reporter at the shelters all night. He was a monster, but he impressed me.

Last year was really fun... so many hurricanes, so little time. I tried to keep up. I kept thinking, "Damn, that's a lotta hurricanes." I pretty much loved it.

Then, Katrina. I had hurricane-watcher guilt. It's as if the sheer power of these storms hadn't really gotten through to me.

After Katrina, I thought I'd never be scared by a hurricane again, though. And now, Rita.

Hurricanes are just pure evil to me, now.
