Linux users - lost NIC in my config! |
|
I had disassembled my PC to reseat the heatsink to work on cooling issues.
I had put the expansion cards in the same slots as originally done.
After reassembling, Linux's drivers would not load.
SuSE's YaST program sees and configures the card, but the drivers won't execute. :-(
What command-line config files does Linux use to configure network cards? Or should I stick to SuSE's graphical installer and hope that re-deleting and re-installing the driver again will work.
Thx!

2. I'm a newbie and I've had no problems until now. |

Besides, every time I do that with Win2k, it decides to add a new network card config into the registry - once the registry gets added with new info, it's hard to get out the old and to compress the registry to get rid of all the vacant entries is impossible.
Sorry, but Linux's speed, efficiency, and lack of a registry which I've positively hated since day 0.02, outweighs Winbloat by far. I prefer to learn so I won't need help anymore.
I will not trade ease of use for lack of power. I don't see a need to spend another $500 in a Radeon 9800 or Nvidia 5950FX Ultra in winbloat because my Geforce 4 4600 model works blazingly fast in Linux. (oh, windows is an embarrassment when I play games on it... like Unreal Tournament/original or 2003, Quake 3 arena, return to castle wolfenstein, etc, etc, etc...)

the linux distri I use is lindows which is pure ease of use but I need Windows too, both professionally and personally (my games i.e. IL2 won't run on linux and my linux machine is considerably weaker than my main pc).
Sorry I can't help though, if I've ever had a problem I#ve just reinstalled the stuff.
