Which TV Commercial Characters Are Your Favorites?
Edited on Thu Sep-22-05 09:10 PM by arwalden
Here's a few to get your brain in gear.

Mr. Whipple, Madge the Manicurist, Josephine the Plumber, Speedy Alka-Seltzer, Pillsbury Dough Boy, Mr. Clean...

Can you think of others?

2. Mean Joe Greene
from the Coke commercial, "thanks Mean Joe!"

the little kid who is dribbling all over the court while doing a verbal countdown to the last second of the game, then he throws up his last second shot, only to miss. Then he looks around and says, "he was fouled!" That was ME when I was that age.

3. Someone actually made a TV movie out of that Coke commercial.
I remember it. It was called "The Steeler and the Pittsburgh Kid." The plot treated it as if the jersey tossing was a real event, which led to speculation that Mean Joe was retiring. Which he did, like a year later. Man, there were some dumb TV movies in the 80s.

4. Mikey
"What's that?"
"Some new cereal. S'posed to be good for you."
"I'm not gonna try it."
"I'm not gonna try it. You eat it."
"Let's get Mikey!"
"Yeah! He won't eat it! He hates everything!"
(pour the cereal for Mikey. Mikey eats it.)
"He likes it! Hey Mikey!"

9. A one-time only character.
It was for a caller-ID service. This big, butch-looking guy is crashed out in front of a romantic movie, mouthing the dialogue and weeping silently. The phone rings, and the caller-ID tells him it's his sports-buddy. He quickly changes the channel to the game and picks up the phone. "BOBBAAAAAAAAAAAAY!..........Yeah! I'm watchin' the game!"

Then the salesman voiceover goes into his pitch for the service, and at the end, cuts back to the guy. He tells his buddy "Later" hangs up the phone and turns back to the romantic movie.

His cat "meows" and he burst into tears saying "I know, I know".

I love that one. B-)
