My cat was abused
I got him several years ago from one of my colleagues.
He is a purebred Blue Russian...his name is Finnegan.
He weighs about 20 lbs. He didn't purr for the first 3 years after I got him. He had a botched declawing--his toes on his front feet are only about 1/2 inch long. When he lays down, he tucks his front paws underneath him, and he doesn't like for his feet to be touched.
He has been with us now for 6 years.
Not only does he purr, but he slobbers when he is happy. As large as he is, he can soak your sheets if he is in such a mood.
Anyway, he has been so antsy all morning.
He has been wandering the house for hours caterwauling. Jumped up into my bed crying. This is highly unusual for him.
He won't leave my feet.
I guess he senses the storm.

4. The way it looks right now
we are in a direct path of it inland. We live in the northeast corner of Texas.
Our forecast starts tomorrow at noon for heavy rains and winds.
Problem is, they expect it to stall out and just beat us to death.
We are supposed to expect flooding and tornadoes--at least that is what our City Emergency planner is saying.

5. Blues are the best
For some reason the male kitties in that breed are also so dog-like. I bet when you get home, he greets you at the door. The breed is very sensitive to what their human is feeling so he may be responding to what he feels coming off the family. Oddly enough, he's probably trying to make sure you are alright.

I remember when my mother died that my old Blue, Fuzzy Buddha, would not leave my side. He began sleeping in the crook of my arm at night. He also slobbered so I know what it's like to "feel the love" from a slobbering blue.

I hope y'all stay safe.

6. Thanks for the kind thoughts
I have no doubt that there are many that will be worse off...however, am trying to figure out what we will do if the waters rise too much with 3 cats, a toddler,a dog and no hotel rooms for hundreds of miles.

7. Come to NYC

We can take you. We have 3 cats already so what's a half-dozen flea lions whomping about the place? The coop board will just have to understand the dog and we have a spare bedroom with your own bath.

9. Females, too!
Ours is a daddy's girl and RUNS to the door when he gets home. She yells at him until he sits down with her.

10. Our Daddy's girl...
is a dilute calico. She meows at my husband around bedtime. My husband is usually in bed around 10:00 p.m. and she starts circling around him about 30 minutes before. She also doesn't like strangers so she tends to hide when we have guests. If guests are still with house around bedtime, she will come out, walk right up to our guests and meow like she's telling them to go home. It's hilarious.

11. We had a Russian Blue also.
She was a very loving cat, who would drool whenever she was happy. The funniest was when she would shake here head and send a spray of slobber everywhere!

She had been a stray and caught an eye infection and went blind. We adopted her shortly afterwards.

:hi:
