Whew!!! My brother and his family have made it out of Houston |
|
and are on the outskirts of Austin.
Now my nephew wants to come live with me until he finishes school :scared:
I haven't "done" teenagers in quite a while.
I don't know if I can relate to him.

6. What? You actually expect him to :::shudder::: interact w/you? |
|

Are you NUTS! Tips from one that knows: tell him to keep his window open; every now and then go in there and spray everything with Lysol; give him a garbage bag (preferably one in those stands they have - like when the ones you use for garden clippings); spray everything with lysol (this cannot be said too many times); throw food in there every few days; insist on toilet seat down (you have to be firm on something). Rinse lather repeat. edit to add: DO NOT LEND HIM MONEY. He wants money... he can work.

12. Here is how to deal w/teenagers |
|
Mark this down: Old age and trickery will beat youth and ability everytime.
(It's actually supposed to be treachery, but trickery is a much better word IMHO)
You were once a teenager. You were probably dumb as a post. Now you are not. Work with your strengths.

18. threat him like one of the cats |
|
put out a bowl of food and water, a litter box for his messes and call it a day. On second thought the cats won't like it.

19. if it's any comfort... |
|
Nieces and nephews usually act a lot better with aunts and uncles than they do with parents. Just don't take any shit and lay down the rules of engagement early on.
