Winter's coming
And I just want to give all the DUers a heads up. Considering all the help Canadians have given (or tried to give) our neighbours to the south... do you think, when the first blizzard hits here (specifically Calgary, in the south west near the downtown part of the city... address available upon PM) they will give us some support. I have definite requests. A carton of Peter Jackson Light Kings, a 24 of Kokanee, a large block of Danish Havarti cheese, about 1 kg. of Montreal smoked meat, a bag of all grain bagels and tartar sauce. That should last me a few days. On second thought, make that 2 24s of Kokaneee. That is all.

1. Nothing? Okay, fine then.
Just don't expect any reaction from us when you need the help. Remember 9/11? And allll those flights that basically shut down Canadian airports because of US destined flights? Or how about when the Vancouver Urban Rescue Team was in Louisiana BEFORE FEMA rescuing Americans? Or how about the fact that our Navy was there before your navy.... I could go on, but I won't because... that would be unneighbourly.

I am trying to be upbeat, but I can't. I think most Canadians have realised (along with our government), that we have to cut you loose. So sorry, and thanks for all the fish. (Douglas Adams).

2. Winter?!? Yesterday was the Autumn Equinox, friend!
Don't worry, be happy!
Ya still got plenty of time to add to your oh-so-comprehensive request list.
:hi:

3. Hello???!!!???
I live NORTH of Montana. It's almost winter here. It went to -2 last night. Smelled like snow. We only have two seasons here... winter and construction. When I lived in Winnipeg, we always knew when winter really started... Halloween... freezing rain and if we were lucky, snow. Blizzards happen here all the time. Did you know that Calgary gets snow every month of the year? Just most of the time (in the spring/summer/autumn months) it falls in the mountains (about 100 km from where I live). FYI

9. That's -2 Celsius.
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 06:20 PM by Canadian Socialist
Not -2F. Big difference. We work on the metric scale here. So -2C would be about 20F (I think - someone else may do the conversion). All I know, is it is below the freezing point of water.

8. HA! Like Emperor Ralph drinks beer
anymore. More like the finest Scotch whiskey. I honestly hate that man. He has destroyed a wonderful province. The only thing he has done right in the last few years is, he has stopped blowing up hospitals and selling the others to his cronies.

10. Well... I never!
Have said out and about like that... but I have a "western Canajan, eh" accent. Oot and aboot are very eastern. Please, try to be more respectful of our cultural diversity. I add the beer smilie simply to make the USians feel comfortable in their stereotypes.

13. Canada has cultural diversity?
Well, I suppose - you have Labatt's AND Molson.

I only make fun of Canadians because I view you as a superior culture. I went to college with a bunch of Canadians (Ontario oot and aboot types), and was always amazed at first, just how much they knew and how smart they were. And especially how much they knew about stuff outside their borders. They knew more about our government and who is in it than we Americans did, and knew a lot of other country's stuff as well. They had a depth of knowledge, like the English, superior to the faulty crap we were force-fed in our failing shithole propaganda-pushing public schools.

Then I took a number of trips into Canada to Stratford and Toronto and was amazed at how clean, how nice, how proper everything was. We stayed at a campsite outside Stratford for a week, and they MOWED the lot our tent was on TWICE. They MOWED! Campgrounds in America don't mow.

I make fun of your canucks only because I am jealous that I did not grow up in a culture as good as yours.

7. I have been thinking about snow in your area lately.
I have been getting familiar with google earth recently. And I always think it odd that canada is shown without the snow. I understand why, but it gives a false sense of what the climate is really like. I would like to ba able to add the snow if I want to see just where the arctic shelf actually is.

I am native to chicago, although have spent the past 6 years in central california on the coast.

Thank you for the use of your fire helicopters during our fire season.:hi:

I don't know what Kokanee is but will look. I've never heard of those smokes before, but would send something of high quality to smoke. As for the rest, I do not see that as a problem.

Well we're going to hoard the Big Rock for our next blizzard. Take that you lotus lander! I still haven't decided what to do with my "prosperity dividend". Probably spend it on a trip to Vernon. Good times. Good times.
