Saw The 40 Year Old Virgin last night. |
|
My abs still hurt from laughing so hard.
Favorite scene: the chest hair wax.

She must be tre cool. My similarly-aged grandmother would have freaked out. And she's fairly open-minded.

7. The wax scene was amazing. |
|
And you knew what was coming every time. The audience was in hysterics. You just wanted to hear what was gonna come out of his mouth next. Poor guy. :o
Great movie, though. :D

15. That chest hair scene was real |
|
I mean, when they were pulling off chest hair that was actually happening to Steve Carell. Had to have been the funniest movie scene I had seen in ages!!
Obviously this isn't Oscar caliber material, but I could see Carell getting a Golden Globe nomination in the Musical/Comedy category. He was really both believable and loveable

Where he was walking down the street and you could see the little droplets of blood soaking through his shirt--it was so wrong, it was right. :P
Definitely getting it when it comes out on DVD.

20. I was wondering if that was a real effect after the real waxing. |
|
Wouldn't be surprised.
The morning boner scenes also cracked me up, as did his attempt to hang with the dudes and play poker while talking about a non-existent girlfriend ... and when he was chatting up the woman in the bookstore -- too funny.

It looked like they were there right before he put his shirt back on and stormed out of the waxing (could be makeup, though).
And the Bollywood ending?! I couldn't stop laughing.

In my opinion, it ranks in the Comedy Movie Hall of Fame with "Office Space", "Animal House", and "Raising Arizona". It is destined to become a timeless classic.
"KELLY CLARKSON!" Apparently, he just ad-libbed that during the waxing scene. Too fucking funny.

24. Miss him on the Daily Show |
|
Haven't seen the movie...But what's with the chest hair removal? Nothing wrong with a hairy chest! I've never had any complaints (not to my face anyway) Should men now have hairless chests? What about makeup - should we start wearing that too? Should we start reading Vogue?
Nothing against the movie - I will see it sometime - and Steve Carrell is hilarious. I'm just wondering if this is some trend, or was the scene meant to show how damned silly this is?

27. That's exactly what it was. |
|
His friends were teasing him that he was too hairy, and not having any self-confidence, he went along with it. Definitely silly. i doubt any man will ever undergo the procedure again after seeing this film. The man was bleeding afterwards for cryin out loud.

|
I can't wait to see this one.
So that brings my must-see-but-haven't-yet list to two, 40-Year-Old Virgin and Life Aquatic.
(I adore Steve Carrell. Those Steve vs. Steve things on the Daily Show were pants-wetting funny.)
