What do you still have from childhood?
I have some wicker baskets that my friend's mom gave me when I was about 8 or 9.

I have a few other things, but they are packed away. The baskets are on my bookshelf.

1. I still have a doll that was given to me for my first Christmas...
I was born in December, so this doll is as old as I am. I have it packed away for my grandbabies.

17. Clothes, books, games and toys, and more...
Some of the dresses my mother made for me were also worn by my own daughters. I have receiving blankets that were made for me and my older sisters when we were born. I have the doll my mother sewed for me while she was still pregnant; my brother ripped it to shreds when he was two, but I saved the remnants anyway (mostly her head and the muslin my mother used to stuff her with). I also have my squeaky baby doll that I slept with from age one to well into my teens.

I have some books that are between 30-40 years old; some were mine, some were my older sisters'. My copy of Hop On Pop says inside, "For Cathy, Christmas 1969".

I also have many of my Fisher Price toys: the house, the schoolhouse, the school bus, the castle, the garage, and the camper with boat. I have assorted old Little People and furniture to go with them; some may or may not be the originals. We had so much Fisher Price stuff that my siblings' accessories and mine inevitably got mixed up.

I have all the diaries that I wrote in from 7th grade through high school graduation. I have the papers I wrote for all of my junior high and high school comp classes.

Also: my Campfire vest and scarf, the diamond earrings my mother gave me when I was 16, the Donald Duck watch I wore in 3rd grade, the watch that had been my grandfather's that he gave me shortly before he got sick, some wood carvings my grandfather gave me when I was small (two horses, an elephant and a duck), the Christmas stocking that we used only at my out-of-town grandmother's house, and also the Christmas stocking my aunt made in 1976 or so (she made all of us matching stockings with our names sewn on in sequins) that I still use today (my sister took up my aunt's traditions and made matching ones for all the spouses and children).

Some more very special things: four dolls my grandmother made for me, two of the large "life size" kids and two smaller ones. Her dolls were absolutely beautiful. She had a real talent for it. My mother still has the doll Gramma made for *her* when she was a girl. From the same grandmother, I also have some ceramic items (a flower pot, a bud vase, and a Christmas bell tree ornament).

Speaking of Christmas ornaments, I have lots of ornaments from my childhood, some of which I made in school or Campfire, and some of which were given to me as gifts. I have an elf ornament my Grampa and Gramma gave me for my first Christmas in 1966; it's the first ornament that was mine, and it's the first one to go on our Christmas tree every year.

20. A little plastic figurine of Flash Gordon's girlfriend Dale
I had a Flash Gordon action figure set when I was about four years old. All of the other figurines have disappeared except for Dale. She was the object of this little four-year-old boy's secret lust. I had no idea what sex was all about, but I remember that I felt very excited when I handled that little action figure of her.

21. A very worn pillowcase
It is pink and orange and has a dog on one side and a cat on the other side. Very 70s.

I also have a tole-painted mirror that my grandma made me. It is uglier than sin, but I keep it for the sentimental reasons.

Then there is my first real piggy bank - proudly obtained when I opened my first savings account. It is made from wood and has carvings of animals on the sides.

Odd stuff, really. I'm sure someday my kids will go through it and wonder why the fuck I kept any of it.

27. A copy
of "Little Women" that my grandmother gave me when I was about 10. No toys left. There were five of us girls born one right after the other. When you don't have much money, things get passed down and worn out.

28. An Afghan that my mom made
when I was 7 years old (I am now 29.) It is still just like new, except where the washer put a hole through a couple of stitching. It is now sitting on the back on my couch, it was made for a full sized bed and I now have a queen. I am now making one for my daughter's bed and she has a queen :scared: . Been working on it for a couple of year now. I will get it done eventually :-) !

31. My Mattel Football II game
I still play it, too.

That's the one that allows passing.

I saw a new one in a toy shop the other day for about 10 bucks. They're re-releasing a lot of these old Mattel LED games, but they don't have the "heft" that the old ones had.
