What is a scenester, am I a scenester?

Haha, I really don't know.

I've personally given up on any identifying term to describe my style and/or musical tastes. I've been told I'm "scene" in the past. Never was quite sure what that meant, nor did I really care. I don't know what the fuck I am. If I happen to be "a scenester, so be it. Like I already said: If you are, just let it happen.

The side mullets have really got to go, though.

Other people do. It's such an arbitrary category, I don't think anyone really knows what it means.

There's a guy in my anthropology class with a side mullet. I'm sure he's a good guy and all, but the hair just makes me want to smack him.

10. Indie is a pretty elusive concept now a days...

A lot of what passes for Indie now is just a chance to get scene in a more uncluttered light so that you can then become mainstream...

It happens all the time....

And, like clockwork, people who are "scene" will curse the group or writer or artist that they embraced so lovingly just a few months ago will abandon their former cause in the hopes of discovering the next "cool" thing....

I find a lot of the people who champion the Indie concept try and create a buzz for stuff that is really crap just so they can say they were in on the groundfloor...

So, from the lofty height of 48, I would say scene is what you make it.... When you, in the collective not the singular, girlincontempt, start to enjoy the things you like, no matter if it is someone's concept of "cool" or not, you have achieved scene...

And, from the little I know of you, girlincontempt, you have achieved that which is so sought after but seldom found.....

Cause after all, the only person who really matters is you.....

I gave up a long time ago on trying to be "scene" and now just like what I like no matter where it fits on the cool-o-meter....

I've heard "scenester" used in mockery of trendies who use a music or art scene as nothing more than readymade fashion lexicon and milieu within which to party and social-climb, though.
