Television rant
So, living in an urban (for my state) community, my choices for tv providers totally suck. Both major satellite providers only offer Denver stations, which I have no desire for...there isn't even the possibility of getting the Wyoming stations. The local cable co, Bresnan, practices sheer highway robbery. To get the local stations I want from Cheyenne and Casper, plus sports programming (ESPN, CSTV) I HAVE to go digital, at a cost of $80/month....fucked or what? Anybody know if it's still possible to get one of those huge dishes from like 20 years ago to put out in my yard, and if so, what's the access to programming like, or can point me where to find out?

1. Just giving you a kick.
Wish I could help, but we've been pretty much television-less (no broadcast, unwilling to pay for cable/satellite) for a few years. Just moved to Augusta, ME and have TV for the first time in about four years.

2. I gotta agree, digital cable is practically highway robbery
I switched from Adelphia to Dish and havent regretted it.

But I hardly ever watch TV anymore because I cant stand commercials. I only watch a couple of shows on TV when they run new episodes and mostly watch DVDs.

3. I've been getting by w/o it
for a very long time, but desperately want to watch college football and basketball, so it looks like I may be hosed. Seriously, anybody know if it's still possible to set one of the huge dishes in your yard still and access programming?

4. I miss those big satellite dishes

The programming options were awesome. You could get local stations from all over the place, and you could get the pacific feeds to everything (I lived on the east coast) as well as obscure little cable channels you couldn't get with the local cable company. DirectTV/Dish aren't much different than digital cable anymore. I hope you find what you're looking for.

5. The feeds must be available, the casino I worked at and recently
stopped in to visit still gets them.
