It has been twelve hours since I have had a reply to any of my posts...
I wonder if my luck will continue?

has there been a ban on replying to Fleabert? I didn't get the memo.

:-(

perhaps a good picture will help my pathetic posts be more entertaining.

that's how the lounge feels about me today...and I agree...

meh.

how did you pronounce 'neither' when you read it? since it was brought up, not many people use it nowadays, it's one of my fave words. I pronounce it differently, depending on the sentence.

59. the landscape here sort of reminds me of Austin, but the trees are
MUCH taller. The thunderstorm was just like the ones we get all the time in San Antonio. Blue skies one minute, thunderheads and lightning and thunderCLAPS the next, and then a downpour! It was great.

once you drive, oh, thirty minutes, the landscape is like nothing I know in TX, the hills to the west and the mountains to the east and north...totally different

48. The band name thread is doing surprisingly well...
My last thread before that, which was an epic tale of overcoming my usually horrible luck with concerts and going to a Pearl Jam show. Quite a lackluster response there.

I've come to realize that no one wants to read about triumph. They want the down and dirty stuff. They wanna be mean and to complain. Which is where the band name thread comes into play.

So give them something to complain about and I assure you, your reply drought should end.

78. Well the most recent good news would be the Pearl Jam tale...
I'll copy and paste it from my DeviantArt journal, becuase I'm too lazy to track down the thread.

Part 1 - Friday night
Okay, so there's a Pearl Jam show here tomorrow. I wasn't planning on going originally, because I never got a chance to pick up a ticket and I was low on cash anyway when they went on sale. Today, my roommate told me that a friend of his was selling a ticket if I was interested. I decided to go for it. My dad even said he'd reimburse me the money for the ticket. What great luck.

But if you've read anything regarding concerts (not counting Wintersleep...they need to come back so I can actually make it to a show again) that I've written here in the past, you know what kind of luck I have when it comes to concerts.

I thought everything was sorted out. I was going to be seeing Pearl Jam tomorrow night. Then I read a review of the Halifax show only to discover that Sleater-Kinney opened for them there, which made me assume that they would also be opening for them here. Fuck yes! Now I'm really excited. Sleater-fucking-Kinney. If you don't know them, fucking get to know them. They kick ass.

About twenty minutes ago, however, my roommate's friend called. It was my roommate's friend's roommate (or some shit like that) that had the spare ticket to sell, and as it turns out he had sold it not even an hour before I found out about it, and my roommate's friend was unaware of this. Christ. I really should have seen it coming. History has clearly shown that concerts just are not meant to be attended by me.

Oh well. At the very least I'll get to skate the new skatepark here tomorrow, and I think one of the guys I'll be skating with is also in need of a ticket, in which case I may have a plan B. So there's still a little bit of hope.

I'm seriously beginning to think that there has to be some rock-n-roll deity up there who like, throws darts at a picture of me on a daily basis or something. Fucking cunt. FUCK YOU, DART-THROWING DEITY!

Part 2 - Saturday night
So around 6:30 this evening, I'm hone alone, rocking out to some New Order and making some french fries for supper. All of a sudden the phone rings. It's my roommate, calling from the stadium. He has a Pearl Jam ticket for me. The ticket was just a few rows back, right along the side of the stage. Spectacular seats. The best part? It only cost me TWENTY FUCKING DOLLARS. So I hop on the Route 3 bus and went downtown.

I missed Wintersleep (who opened the show instead of Sleater-Kinney), which I was pretty disappointed about, but I got there a few minutes before Pearl Jam took the stage. It was so fucking incredible.

I really can't think of anything else to say right now. The concert gods ahve finally taken down that picture and put away the darts. And it's about fucking time, those rat bastards.

85. I just noticed something about Part 1...
"(not counting Wintersleep...they need to come back so I can actually make it to a show again)"

I had no idea Wintersleep would be opening the show when I wrote that. Up until the Pearl Jam show, they had been the only band I had seen since like 2002. (But definitely not the only band I had made plans to see since 2002.) Despite missing their performance, that's a pretty neat coincidence.

I really hsould go to sleep. I have a class at 9:00 AM. It is now 3:42 AM.

94. same here, well at least the fucked up sleep habits.
I forced myself into bed at 5 am yesterday, asleep around 6, woke up at 11, you would think I'd be tired now at 330...sadly no.

it happens every few months like this. I hate it. I am about to brush my teeth and lay in bed and see what happens.

Have a good day, hope class goes well and you get some good rest later.

15. I haven't had a reply since last night.
I've had a hard time getting replies lately. I went 19-20 posts without any.

Until I found that smashing dress on eBay last night and posted it here, I thought I might have become invisible.

So...how's fleabert? :hi:

50. fleabert is okay, happy when I am in the lounge,
irritated that my house doesn't magically clean itself while I am here...wouldn't that be great?

post a pic of the dress again, I missed it!

The Lounge is crazy infatuated with you, but is giving you your space...

72. Homemade pizza
I make it all from scratch; I just can't toss the dough into the air. Any and all toppings available, excepting anchovies. Once, while living in Germany I encountered tuna pizza (yuck).

77. Somewhat, all of it was in Germany and Poland
I spent most of the time in archives and libraries, but they were scattered all over: Munich, Koblenz, Berlin and Warsaw. Then there were the interviews which took me to many small towns in Poland. I was amazed how much I was accepted in Poland. Many of these towns were so small the only way in was by walking. The children were the first to notice me and that I was most definitely a foreigner (because of my clothes, I found out). Then I totally amazed them by being able to speak Polish. At one point I felt like the Pied Piper of Hamlet (more accurately: Zamosc)... I had a long line of children following me. Most of them had never met someone from the USA.

65. Hi fleabert!
:hi:

Just wanted to say hi, before I leave this area for a while. I guess some days it's a virtual crap shoot as to what will illicit a response in others here in the lounge, or DU in general.

It had been about as long for me, too--just prior to receiving a reply about a minute ago.

Hope you enjoy your time here today--and your threads are filled with responses!

100. Hey Fleabert...
Sorry, I sort of fell behind in my quest to reply to each of your replies. But I'm sure you didn't mind... Sorry to hear your sleep's messed up these days, too. Not sure what's causing mine. I could sleep all day and stay awake all night, but NO, the world doesn't want to hear about that.

Here's to some shuteye... :boring:
