2. Because the Leafs are the Chosen Ones
They've been meandering in the desert the last 38 years, but this season they are destined to find the Promised Land and win the cup.

Even if I wasn't a Leafs fan, the Air Canada Centre is the only NHL venue that the subway will take me to.

4.  and any time watching a hockey game
is better then just about any other time spent. I can take the light rail to the Pepsi center where the Av's play but it is soooo expensive I stick to watching University of Denver. Great hockey for a affordable price

8. My wife got the ticket from a guy she works with
Leafs tickets are outrageously expensive too. I'm lucky if I can make it more than once a season.

I did discover tonight that the Tim Horton's booth doesn't jack up their price on the coffee there. That's somewhat comforting.

9. I sat next to Peter Worrell tonight
At an AHL exhibition game......he's a former Av player. He's with Hartford but didn't dress.

14. Cool.
I remember him playing with Florida, but I'm so out of it that I didn't realize he moved to Colorado last year.

3. What prospects looked good?
Playing wise, of course.

5. Some of the younger ushers really stepped up with their A game
and got people to their seats faster than many of the seasoned veterans. Some of the beer vendors they brought up from the minors look like they might have what it takes to win a spot at the ACC.

The guys on the ice....well, I'd rather not talk too much about that.

Wellwood, Stajan, and Steen all managed not to embarass themselves too much. Sadly, I don't think Stumpy will make the cut. He was pretty dreadful. Hopefully it was just an off night for him and I'll be proven wrong.

10. Steve Thomas.
He's at the training camp, but not yet under contract.

13. Well, they lost Gary Roberts and Joe Niewendyk (sp?) to Florida
So maybe they're trying to compensate.

I think they've actually gotten a tad younger since the last season. With Thomas they're just looking to fill out the roster on the cheap. Wellwood could probably take the spot, but his defensive skills are supposedly in question.

15. Yeah, that's always the Baby Leafs problem
Now the Marlies......all offense, no defense. Fun to watch, but they don't get far in the playoffs. That seems to trickle up with those players when they get to the big show.

16. They hired Paul Maurice to coach the Marlies
so hopefully this will change.

It's also nice that they moved the Baby Leafs to Toronto. With the Marlies playing about 2 miles from the Leafs, it'll be easier for them to move the young players up and down from the minors. So I'm kind of hoping they'll sign Thomas and put Wellwood on the Marlies, bringing him up on the frequent occasions that one of their injury prone forwards misses some games.

12. If the Leafs play like they did tonight on a consistent basis...
there will be about 18,000 people at every game that look like that.
