3. These are the same ones I posted pics of months ago, I just ran across
more photos I'd never processed :)

They were such cute little guys, just big enough to be a double handful :). And the suckers could RUN, they were a riot watching them rush around on those stubby little legs :)

I need to go back to that little zoo and see how big they've gotten since early July when these were taken :)

4. Nah, these guys were too small to eat, heck, the whole pig wouldn't
make one decent porkchop :) Besides, they're pot-bellied pigs, I'm not sure how they'd taste (they are very social and friendly little piggies though)

34.  Pot-bellied pigs cook up the same as any other hog...
except they are usually leaner.

They're one of my favorite animals. It's true :) Hell, I'm a big fan of cuteness in general.

17. Supposedly they make very good pets and are highly sociable :)
I'll tell you I felt sorry for this poor mama pig though. Her udder (is it called an udder on a pig?) was almost dragging in the dirt and the kids just wouldn't leave her alone. They really need to invent a pigsiere for the poor girl :)

18. And intelligent.
We were at the fair last weekend and I took the kids into the petting zoo and they had a momma pig with her piglets that couldn't have been more than a week old. They were the tiniest little piggies I'd ever seen. I wish I'd taken pictures.

13. Well, I'm not a vegetarian, but I try not to eat really cute animals :)
Sorry, I like my chicken, steak and fish too much :).

Pigs and lambs and rabbits and ducks and such are too cute to eat.

I never had that hangup with beef, chicken or fish, yeah, little yellow chicks are cute, but grown chickens aren't.

I know, weird justification, but that's just me :)

25. Vegetarian here, too.
But some people are such hypocrites. They ooh and aww about how cute the piglets are, but they would turn around and eat one in a heartbeat.

27. Quit stereotyping. I am not a vegetarian, but I don't eat pigs :).
As I said above, I don't eat animals I think are cute (and no, I don't think fish, cows and chickens are cute).

31. I don't know if I'd call that hypocricy.
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 09:25 AM by Pithlet
Self-conflict, maybe, or willfull denial. But that doesn't meet the definition of hypocricy. Hypocricy is if they denounced eating pigs while doing so themselves. As a meat eater, I fully admit that I try to forget where my meal comes from, and I know how much that upsets some vegetarians. I'm not proud of it. I do avoid pork products as well as veal, lamb and duck.

Pigs are supposedly very intelligent - as smart as dogs even. I hope the poor little guys aren't going to be eaten.

21. Nope, they won't be eaten, they're zoo critters :)
They hang out in a pen of their own off to the side of the petting zoo. They can't be chased and bothered by kids, but kids can get within inches of their cute little piggie faces :)

panda-cam wars :). It just wouldn't be fair to the piggies.

29. Pigs ROCK!!! Worked on a pig farm a couple summers...
They're just big puppy dogs, even the 500-lb. boars. Scratch them behind the ears and they're putty in your hands.

32. Yup :) They're friendly little buggers (except the wild boar type
which will rip you up).

There was a little petting zoo/animal farm in the small town in Arizona where I grew up. They had this HUGE sow named Big Sal (she was gigantic). She was a sweetheart too. I never saw any boars around, but she had a litter of piglets almost every year we went there.

These are a different breed of pig, but still . . . they're interesting little critters. And like I say, these little guys can RUN. It was like watching a bunch of little puppies playing chase in the back yard :)
