4. Was anybody else as happy as I was to see that Jin was still alive?
Through most of last season, I HATED Jin...then the episode "...In Translation" aired, and I just fell in love with him.

Watching the Season 1 DVD's, I think my favorite scene so far is when he is offering Claire the fish, and she feels her baby start to kick again, and she makes him feel the baby. The look on his face--fascinated but terrified at the inappropriateness of it all--is priceless!

What exactly was going to happen in 2-1/2 minutes if Locke hadn't typed in the numbers and hit the "Execute" button? :scared:

Yeah, the Others did look appropriately creepy and menacing. I like the way the show is going this season. Fasten your seatbelts, boys, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

I found someone else who speaks Korean (online):

I am a Korean

I'll tell you what Jin said

Jin : "Run away! It's dangerous here. You must not come here. Run away! "

sawyer(?) : Jin?

Jin : You must not come this way! Don't come this way! Michael! Sawyer!

Sawyer : Jin!

Jin : You must not stay here! Don't come this way! Don't come this..

Sawyer : help I'll help ( I am not good at hearing)

Jin : You must go back! You must go back! Don't care about me. Listen to me. You must not be here. They are coming now. They are coming now. Others.. others..

Michael : What?

Jin : others..

I'm not good at English. I am not sure they're correct sentences;

Maybe even their entire lives up to this point - and this is where they are supposed to be held for the rest of their lives.

But by whom? And will they succeed, or will the people be able to overcome their labrat status?

That's what I'm thinking.

Not "just like" Truman show, but basically.

New hypothesis: The others took the boy because they knew he has the power to overcome the experiment, if he is left to help the survivors, the experiment would be uncovered.

88. Dunno, but
the room where Mike gave away rights to his son strikes very similar to where the baby's mom decided against giving up her rights.

Mike: started out fighting for rights, ended up giving them away
woman (forget her name): started out to give up for adoption, ended up keeping rights.

Very interesting.

I love a smart ass who doesn't know what he/she is talking about. And then to see them get on the internets and have their word taken as good-my source BTW, was the actor himself talking about it. From what I Know about people who have left their first language and had to 'relearn' it later in life, generally, their accent is very authentic. And the lingo comes back quickly.

14. Anyone spot the logo from the hatch on the shark
I didn't but am hitting the various Lost boards and it must be there because too many agree. I have it on my DVR and am going to double-check tonight.

Also have someone working the trigrams/I-Ching symbols from the logo. He did run the numbers through the I-Ching and came up with some odd things that seem to describe some of the characters, including one describing somone who can't walk an then can walk.

I actually enjoyed the dramatic form of showing us the events from last week froma different viewpoint.

I am working as hard as I can to avoid the spoiler sites but the temptation is mighty. :-)

22. Oh yeah, it really is
Some thought typing the numbers activated the "monster" when it is obvious there is a 108 minute timer that counts down to zero and if no one enters the numbers then something will happen.

Probably a deadman switch device so that if no one is alive in the hatch the island blows up.

My favorite moment from last night was Locke saying,"Oh, that would be Jack" just so calm and matter-of-fact.

I mean that is one of the few things on the show that is as plain as can be. Of course, we don't know what happens if it hits zero.

Oh, there were some last week who thought the opening was actually a flashback because Desmond looked scruffier at the end than at the beginning.

134. The computer timer reminds me of a book I read in jr. high
Don't remember the title of the book or the author(details, details). But, it was this sci-fi book about a group of people stuck in a weird cave(how they got there eludes me)

But, anyhoo...the book ends with the four of them trying to understand this weird cave and how to survive by coming up a weird rituals. For example, every time they hear a loud sound, they all had to jump together to make it stop, or so they concluded.

That's what the computer thing reminded me of.... that Desmond types in the numbers at a certain time and has been doing it for so long he can't remember why.

I've just completed the Lost immersion program which consists of watching about 3 episodes a night for a week and a half, so much of the subtleties have been lost (har-har) on me. I don't even recall that joke at all. Would you provide me the context of the joke, because I don't remember. Thanks for the correction. :-) At least I know I'm crazy. :hi:

32. not exactly
The logo is made up of I-Ching Trigrams, the broken and solid line patterns. This triggered a taoist friend of mine's imagination. And the center of the logo is similar to the "yin-yang" Tai-Chi symbol.

Also the name of the company is not exactly but close to the word Dharma which is a Buddhist concept of protection or something like that.

The Trigram patterns all have a number. So, he used the numbers, 4 8 15 16 23 42, to check the corresponding trigrams. One involved a leader, one involved fire over water and another referred to someone who could not walk and then could walk.

He did not have his best reference books and was telling me from memory as he drove to work but he will check into it more later tonight.

Those "other's" looked like a couple of repukes chasing down their still squealing dinner. Crazed and scary looking. Glad our three handsome guys on the raft have lived to tell the tale so far.

The Desmond's -self destruct button story line equally as spooky and nail biting.

Any one have any idea who the "he" is that Desmond is waiting for, since I agree we know Locke was only faking the yes?

Can't wait until next Wednesday. The suspense is killing me.

106. Significance of the "Apollo" power bars???
This is far-reaching, but I'm sure this has some meaning. Check out what I found:
http://www.wordsources.info/apollo.html
The arrows of Apollo and Artemis invariably killed and the Greeks explained epidemics of diseases by supposing that they were shooting their arrows at people; and so, by praying to Apollo, the epidemic might be made to stop. In this way, Apollo became associated with the cure of diseases.

It's possible the Apollo bars are what keeps Desmond from getting "ill."

Also:
The snake was a symbol of medicine and doctors and the Latin name for his constellation is Ophiuchus (oh fee YOO kuhs) which means “serpent-holder”.

There is a snake on the Dharma logo. Perhaps this is some sort of medical experiment?

Like I said, this is all far-reaching, but worth a thought.

151. Definitely worth thought. More on Apollo....
The mythology says Apollo was born on an island, Delos, considered the most sacred of islands. (the island is pretty central to the show, no?)

After Apollo killed the huge snake Python in Delphi by the mountains Parnassus, the site was dedicated to him. There, the Omphalos, the navel, stood - a point believed by the ancient Greeks to be the centre of the earth. (there's that snake again and at this point, the island may as well be the center of the earth for our survivors)

Apollo personified the perfect man according to ancient Greek standards. He was a runner. (Desmond and Jack on the stairs?)

Apollo was also a healer. (Jack for certain and Desmond mentioned it).

I adore this show for many reasons, but including hidden 'clues' or references is SO COOL!

119. More dirt: a key verse from "Make Your Own Kind of Music"
You're gonna be knowing
the loneliest kind of lonely.
It may be rough goin',
just to do your thing's
the hardest thing to do.

Gosh, everything has a reason for being there, doesn't it?

122. Nice find.
That song was driving me ca-razy last night.

I loved the look on Kate's face when it started as she was crawling through the air duct. :D

149. My favorite line of the show was "what're you gonna do, splash me?"
Sawyer to Mike on the raft. And then he did.
