Anybody here print their own checks? |
|
I just switched banks and am thinking about printing my own checks for cost as well as convenience. Anybody do that and have advice, product suggestions, things to avoid, etc.?
Thanks!

2. I only write about 4-5 cheques per year. |
|
I've never come across the potential for print-your-own cheques here in the U.K. either.

7. Mostly by direct debit. |
|
I don't know the U.S. equivalent, but the money goes directly from my bank account to the relevant billing company. Plus on-line payments with my debit card.
Receiving cheques is a total nuisance - it's the only time I ever go into the bank.

I have two direct debits from my account - totaling less than $50 per month - because it's the only one to pay for those two items. And I DREAD that. I mean DREAD to such an extent that every month I consider canceling the accounts just to get their fingers out of my account. I just don't like the idea of somebody other than me (or Mrs. Mostly) with access to my money. Paranoid, I guess.

9. I've never had any problems |

and it makes life easier for me.
I don't know if the banking sectors are very different across the Atlantic, but there is a pretty good guarantee with it over here if there are problems.

Ooops... Shouldn't have said anything.
I hope any Treasury officials reading this doesn't figure out I'm really Tom Delay.
Ooops! Damn.

4. You would need magnetic ink for your MICR line... |
|
And all the "space" symbols would need to separate your BC and AC and it would be a good idea to check it with your bank, just so you would not have to pay extra charges if your chks did not process thru the check machines....but it could be done.
