Chicago-area DUers (and anyone else who can make it here) will meet on Sunday, Oct. 16. Festivities will commence about 2 p.m. and continue until ?

The location is Lotties Pub, 1925 W. Cortland Ave. Parking is supposedly available in the neighborhood and it is accessible by bus.

Now that the council and Illinois Restaurant Association have agreed to a compromise (bars that are separate from where food is served will still be able to allow smoking), it looks like the ban will pass. It has a lot of support among the council members and many restaurant owners -- including one owner who I know.

It is a poem, written for me at about 10 last night following a discussion of a rather unpleasant (read gross and disgusting) incident I had while riding the el train one time when I was a college student.

88. Parking in Bucktown can really suck!! There are two different

Metra lines that stop at Ashland/Elston/Armitage (the stop is, oddly enough, named Clybourn). Just walk a block(ish) south to Cortland, then west three blocks to Lottie's. If you get to Damen you've gone too far. There is also a Blue Line stop at Damen and North Ave, then you just have to walk up Damen to Cortland. Either way might be easier for some than driving.

I eat brunch at Silver Cloud quite a lot and usually don't have that hard a time parking. You just have to circle the block a few times, but you eventually find something. :D
