Poll question: DU men...Have you ever worn a speedo? |
|
I must admit that I wore one once when I was 12. I went on vacation with my parents and my mom bought me a new "bathing suit." It was a speedo and made me look like a retard.
Never wore it again.

1. I wore one all the time when I was swimming competitively. |
|
You can't wear baggy trunks for something like that. Haven't worn them since. My body looking the way it does, I don't want to gross anyone out!

But that was a long time ago.
When I was in shape.
(I'm still 'in shape'. Round is a shape.)

I swam competitively for 10 or so years when I was young. It's fun to wear the speedo during the most awkward time in your life.

A friend of my brother was going to a private boys' boarding school and was on the swim team. He told me about another swim team member who didn't realize that his parents had arrived a little late to watch him in a competition. He won, and as he stood on the highest stand to receive his trophy, he looked in the stands to find his parents. It was then that he saw his girlfriend, who they had brought to surprise him. Boinnnggg!

My butt wouldn't fit into a speedo. I would look like I was smuggling two midgets into the beach.

Even though I looked like a fat, balding Greek shipping tycoon in it.
And I wear Lycra shorts when I ride.
Now if I can just "sculpt" the proper body to wear such things in mixed company...

It oughta be a crime for men to wear one of those banana-hammocks on a public beach unless they pass certain physical criteria...

on a beach in East Falmouth on Cape Cod (Massachusetts) the day after a friend of mine wore one there on a summer day in 1972! The fact that he looked rather like Charles Manson probably didn't help. Anyway, the next day another rule had been added to the sign on the beach- "NO BIKINI BATHING SUITS MAY BE WORN BY MEN" I think I recalled seeing some horrified old biddies staring at him. They took action FAST!

there is no way I am going to increase my drag coefficient by wearing those baggy swim trunks, so yes I wear a speedo every day!

Regular swim trunks bunch up inside a wetsuit and it's more convenient to change in public places than going raw.

28. Speedos are made for swimming, trunks drag |
|
I am female so I know that I do not speak for men. Some men do have insecurities with their bodies. If you really wish to swim, I'd recommend wearing speedos. Trunks create drag. If you are attempting to swim for time, trunks put you at a serious disadvantage. As a woman, I prefer buying that brand or others like it. Baggy suits just feel heavy. I am a former competitive swimmer, of course, so I might be biased. I might be weird, but I really do not find most people's bodies disgusting. We should not be ashamed of our bodies, male or female, just because they do not fit the media ideal.

Trunks and baggy suits just feel wrong, especially when they get full of air and bloat up.

|
 and I swear I will never wear one again. I was on the swim team when I was 7 or 8, and my mom told me it would make me faster. Those things freak me out to this day. I would rather wear my regular shorts in the pool than a speedo, :puke:, I hate em.

he is in his 50's and has an admiration for his body that is pathological. Its truly frightening - both seeing him in the speedo and watching him admire himself. :shudder:
