Catch a Freaking CLUE!
Ok, so I needed hugs earlier, now I need advice. The situation:

One of my former law school classmates is in town. We'll call her CH. She's currently living in Oregon, we haven't seen each other in 2 years. She's been planning this trip to come visit friends for MONTHS. I thought that my role in it was to hang out with the old group of peeps last weekend. Turns out, "the group" consisted of me, CH, and 1 other classmate, whom CH was staying with at that point.

So while we're hanging out, she says, "Hey, Huskerlaw, can I crash on your couch for a few days?" 1) I don't have a couch, I sold mine. Cuz I'm moving next week (more on that in a moment), 2) I was under the impression she'd worked out sleeping arrangements a long time ago, 3) I have to work, so she'd be hanging out in my mostly empty apartment alone. I basically tell her all of this, she's not the least dissuaded. She assures me that on Saturday, she's going to go to Omaha (1 hour away), rent a car, and drive across the state to visit other friends. I rather reluctantly agree.

So this is day 2. She's sleeping on an air mattress in my living room. And she's sleeping until noon, which makes it a bit difficult to get anything done in the morning. Once she's awake, she plops herself down on my bed to watch TV (the only one in the house). I only have a 1 bedroom apartment...her stuff is rather everywhere.

All this, and I'm moving across the country next Wednesday. I have 1000 little things to get done, in addition to packing up most of my apartment (I've started, but it's far from done).

And yesterday she says to me, "Huskerlaw, I'm not sure I'm going to go visit those other friends. I can't get ahold of them." Not that she's actually picked up a phone to try to call them in the last 3 days, but ok. She continues, "I think I may stay til Tuesday." UM, WHAT? FUCK. I'm moving on Wednesday. And then she starts talking about not having a way to get to Omaha to get the rental car (which, frankly, I'm not sure why she needs if she's going to be camped out on my bed all week, but ok). I say, well, my parents are coming Saturday morning (so your ass best not be asleep in my living room) to help pack, etc. and then we're going to the football game. She acts all pissed off. Like she expected that I would take her to Omaha.

Ok, sorry, that was really long. Anyway, what should I do? She's got other friends here in town, but she refuses to call them for some reason. I suppose I could call them, but then what do I say? Argh! Help!

1. Let her sink or swim on her own merits
She's an adult (chronologically, anyway).

It's not your fault she can't get her shit together, and even if you weren't moving, you'd be totally within bounds to refuse to drive her to Omaha.

Tell her "Look, I need to pack, I'm moving - I told you this before you came, and you initially said you would only be here two days then leave. I have no time for anything else - you are free to stay if you absolutely need to, but when I need to pack the stuff you're sleeping with, it's getting packed. You are totally on your own."
