Serenity --- Warning (loaded with spoiler )
Ok, I warned you. If you have not seen it, do not read any further.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been thinking about the subtext of this movie and the current affairs.

You know, Iraq torture scandal tapes that has been blocked so far and real origin of reavers. Like reavers were actually created by the alliance. ( Iraq terrorist origin similarity?!) This movie is almost crying for some hackers to release that fucking video.

Mal is going to be my all time favorite Scifi male lead replacing original Matrix Neo. Yes, he is a bit like Han Soro but Mal has a real issue, not just freedom loving outlaw.

Another thing I really like about this movies is its pain. Again, Mal got hurt most. Many scifi movies are either too gory or too clean. This movie's fighting scene look real.

Finally, default reaver fleets rocks. That was just plain brilliant.

Those are my first impressions.

2. *Spoiler Alert*
I agree about the subtext of the movie.

I still can't get over losing two main characters. Joss really pulled no punches with this film. I really feel bad for anyone that goes to this movie without seeing the series first. Their deaths will not mean much without having the series to reflect on. I walked out of the theater blown away, but sad.

I can't wait for the next 2 Firefly films.

4. Maybe I am not as good of a fan as you
I kind of think those two were a sort of weakest ... maybe not... I don't know... It's just that what happened gave the movie some gravity. I also think those two ( at least Shepherd ) may show up for the sequel. I heard that they will make two sequels if this one do well. Shepherd does have some past and I am curious. I just want the rise of browncoat. A real guerrilla war lead by Mal!!

This movie made me into 'fighting mood'!!

6. Yes
We never did find out about Shepherd Book's past. I really liked Wash. I liked him from the 1st time I saw him playing with his toy dinosaurs. I think he was the comic relief on the show.

5. My husband and I just saw the movie
We hadn't seen the television show since we don't watch television. I agree with most of what you said. One thing that I wondered though was if the guy with no name killed himself with the sword. I was half expecting that there would be a scene like that.
