You know what is cramped......

Having a single bed and four 80 to 100 pound dogs jockeying for their 'spot'.....

With notin' but 1 human trying to breathe in the middle....

1. Can you use one of them for a pillow?

3. For about 30 seconds.

Then the dog decides he doesn't like that, so he'll get up, do his little 'circle shuffle', followed by a plop back down accompanied by a HUGE sigh (so you know EXACTLY how much you just inconvenience him) as he lands on your head.

So, all-in-all, I don't generally use them as a pillow....

2. That's why I'm happy

we have a king size, plenty of room for Mrs. Dave and me, a 90 pound dog and 2 cats.

7. Well, if your 90 lb dog is anything like mine,

a king sized bed would be just about the right size for him to stretch out comfortably while everyone else inserts their anatomy into whatever space is left available.

(I know this, because I have seen how much room my dogs can use stretching out on the floor.)

5. Canine dental care

pretty much negates 'dog breath' as an issue.

Puppy breath can be a bit trying - but it's nothing compared to the needle sharp teeth.

Nope, the TRUE challenge comes when one of them encounters a skunk - and just DOES NOT undertand why they can't sleep on the bed....

my roommate has two dogs - the stink is incredible

the one that likes me most also carries socks around in its mouth - i can't imagine how much bacteria is in there

9. There have been nights......

But they follow me....And if you think a single bed is cramped with all that company, a sofa is worse.

Even sleeping in a chair doesn't work. One of them will get the idea I might get lonely, so he'll crawl up on my lap. After a couple of hours I wake up because my legs are SERIOUSLY numb.

10. Sounds like you need to cover your entire bedroom floor with

about 5 inches of foam rubber and skip any bed type furniture. Then you just have to fight for the covers. Probably not a fight you can win, but...

I never thought of that.

We manage. In fact, we're so acclimated to the situation that we don't have problems. Until one of them has to be put down. Then we have to work at adjusting to our new canine addition. And this can be difficult, because a puppy who has it's days and nights mixed up can make life a living HELL for all others. It's usually a two to three week sleepless cycle.

We're pathetic. One adult human and three adult canines wandering around in a sleep deprived haze with blood shot eyes.

And, it often takes a couple of months to incorporate a new pup into our 'snakepit'.

I wish. Unfortunately Hollywood would need to insert some jackass trying to shoot the dogs, or a dog driving a car.
