We've been told very specifically NOT to cook fish. Now we are going to get another warning from the top brass .

This just seems like common sense to me, am I mistaken here?

Don't get me wrong, I love fish, but cook it at home, dammit! Some of the poor vegetarians in the building looked as if they were going to retch.

1. Forget the vegetarians, how did the fish feel?
I bet it was steamed!

3. Please forgive me, it was meant to be a joke.
A bad joke and a slightly non-PC joke, but no insult against vegetarians was intended!

6. Laughing right along with you. No worries.
But you should have seen the looks on some of the veggies' faces.

4. Boil some cabbage or some turnips.

Now there's an aroma that lingers a while.

7. Those bastards!
I'd write them up for that, and tell 'em next time, they lose priveleges to the lounge, and then get fired if they violate that.

Civility and etiquette should be enforced in the workplace. It obviously isn't being taught in schools, nor by many parents, so it's gotta be taught somewhere.
