What is the statue of limitations on tv/movie spoilers?
How old does a movie or show have to be before you have to no longer be worried about spoiling it for someone?

9. Cool
3 and 4 are the best. I consider the third season ender to be one of the finest hours of television ever produced.

Some felt 5 was a letdown but I think it followed a natural arc and was still very good.

Enjoy. :-)

13. Thanks; I'm being very careful now
I listened to the commentaries in the Season 1 set. Big mistake - I ended up knowing some stuff I wasn't supposed to know yet. Can't believe they did that. They should have put a spoiler warning on that!

6. But what if it were Trek II?
B5 is, sadly, still a bit obscure. What about something older and more entrenched in the Science Fiction literature, like Trek II?

32. Ahh, but think of the children
:-)

Of course, you have to be able to discuss movies. But as I said earlier, always put a spoiler warning if you reveal surprises or twists.

To get to my point. Some fathers share going to a game. Some share a first beer.

My greatest material love is movies and I relish showing my children movies I love.

Last Sunday, my son and I watched Little Big Man. No real twists but it was fun showing him the film and now he has passed it along to a friend who is full blood indian and we hope he enjoys it also.

But I don't know if they can ever enjoy Citizen Kane as much as I did because they all know how it ends. Which is a shame because it has real impact if you see it without knowing the ending.

And yeah, the same can be said of Star Trek II.

2. I think if you make it clear in the subject line that it's a SPOILER
that's all the limit there should be.

If I click on it, then it's on me if the movie ending or tv ending is spoiled.

When I see spoiler, I usually ignore the thread IF I don't want to know what happens.

You get the picture :)

3. Forever for movies
Just my opinion but if you are revealing plot twists or surprise endings you should always preface with at least a little spoiler warning.

All I ask is they not be in the title of the thread or the first paragraph.

TV shows, a few weeks for normal shows, new season start for season ending cliffhangers.

I DVR'd a movie last night made in 1961. Never seen it. Never even heard of it.

Viridiana by Luis Buñuel. Since Hitchcock himself said that Luis Buñuel was the greatest director ever, I have to see this film. :-)

But I would be annoyed if someone, without any warning, just blurted out the ending.

8. I agree 90%
but in my opinion I think that if one is an adult, one should not be overly offended if in casual conversation someone mentions, for example, what Rosebud refers to, or what the ruby slippers do.

28. the sixth sense was kinda ruined for me too
but to an extent I wonder if that is less powerful art. For example, the end of "It's a Wonderful Life" is still very powerful and moving to me, even though I know it's coming. Knowing the ending does not diminish its power a bit. I find the same to be true with War Games and Independence Day and Galaxy Quest and The Matrix and so on. Most of those, you can kinda predict the ending anyway even the first time. Knowing it is not the same thing as seeing it.

11. There is none
Spoilers must be contained in perpetuity. It's not as though there's nothing else to talk about.
