Crappity crappity crap crap . . . I just bought the No Direction Home DVD |
|
and didn't realize until I opened it and put in the first disc that I'd bought the full screen instead of the widescreen. Since you can't take back opened DVD's, I guess I'm stuck.
Oh well, better a full screen for a music documentary than for a cinematic extravaganza :).

1. At the price they charge for DVDs you should get both. |
|
Me, I hate the black lines on widescreen because my TV's not set up that way.
But honestly, how hard would it be to include both of them as a feature?

2. Depends on the length of the movie, if there are a lot of extras, etc. |

You can only fit so much on a disc :). For some movies they DO put both. To have both on a long movie with lots of extras though would increase the cost (and consequently your price).
For really good cinematic movies, I prefer wide screen because you lose a lot of the image when it's cropped to fit a regular screen.
For documentaries, I don't mind full screen so much.

3. Ugh, how I loathe full screen... |
|
Unless the director intended a film to be full screen (The Shining, for example) then full screen should be abolished.

4. Agree in most cases . . . for this one, I'll live with it . . . |
|
it's a documentary, full screen won't distract THAT much from it.
I can't take it back now like I said, and I don't feel like dropping another $20 on the wide screen. (okay, so it's only $17.99, but close enough).
