What if Star Trek were "re-imagined" like BSG? |

Who would you like to see play Kirk, Spock & McCoy?

1. I don't even want to think about this happening, but it might one day.... |
|
If it did, I hope the actors would all be unknowns.

Rip Torn as McCoy
For the life of me, I can not think of a good Spock. Nimoy just owns it too well.

we've already seen that treatment: It's called "Star Trek Voyager", if not "Star Trek Enterprise".
Ronald D Moore is a biggie in BSG-remake as well. He was big during the bermantrek era as well.
It's the same slop, over and over again.

10. How do you mean? Do you mean a BSG-style Star Trek, or |
|
a modernized Star Trek? I'm not sure about the second (I'll think on it), but the first choice seems tough (unless you count DS9).

Why not make it even more craptacular? We could have a CGI McCoy and a spliced-from-old-footage Scottie.

Natalie Portman as McCoy, naked
Kate Winslet as Spock, naked

Reese Witherspoon as Sulu, naked
Midori as Chekov, naked
Sandra Bullock as Uhura, naked
Summer Glau as Yeoman Rand, naked
Jewel Staite as Lt. Kevin Riley, naked
Raquel Welch as T'Pau, naked

T'Pau was the matriarch (or whatever she's called) of Vulcan.
I have no idea if T'Pau were an 80s pop group.

if done properly, a re-imagining of ST:TOS, a la BSG, may actually be pretty good. Certainly the ST franchise has been really stale as of late, and maybe this would do something for it. And quite frankly, they have done an excellent job with BSG, taking it light years beyond the crappy original series. Although I do miss the flying bikes a little....or not.
My pics for some crew:
Kirk....Ving Rhames He has that captain's swagger about him in my mind.
Spock...Lucy Liu Well, ok, just because I think she is sexy as hell. And she has shown the ability to give that same Spock deadpan delivery.
McCoy...Neal Patrick Harris Yes Doogie Howser. Flame me all you want, but I think it would work, if on a comic level. I just imagine him doing the "Dammit Jim..." line in his whiny style, and that works for me. I'm nuts.
Scotty...Hugh Laurie from Fox's House He's English, so to us Ugly Americans, he can fake a Scottish dialect. And I think he could go from crazy response to intense situation, to an even intellectual response in seconds that would fit well on the Enterprise.
Sulu...B.D. Wong I think that's his name. He pops up as the psychologist in one of the many Law and Orders out there. I know this one is predictable, but I think he would be a good addition to the cast.
Uhura...Diane Lane Brings that same quality of mature sexiness to the role, and not a bad actress to boot.
Checkov...no clue. I just have no idea who could do justice to "nuclear wessels."
Red Shirts...various guest stars. Weekly rotation of guest stars who die off quickly. OK, this one is a joke, but I stand by most of what I picked.

Not until all star trek series have been completely off the air for like 15 years. So that's a long way off.
