Would you vote for this platform?
I'm not very well versed in all the intracacies of any issue, but here's the trial balloon.

1. Immediate funding of an Apollo scale project into alternative fuels. Biomass, solar, tidal, and wind energy could easily replace all the foreign sources of energy we use without affecting the food supply. Fast track implementation of best sources of energy.

2. A major lock down on our borders and ports. To defeat the terrorists we need to prevent them from getting here in the first place. The southern border is pourous and treacherous. I'm NOT talking about banning immigration, this country was and still is built on the backs of immigrants. Prosecution of those that hire illegals will be the main focus. Ports will be outfitted with detectors on the loading dock meant to automatically check for the presence of nukes or chem weapons. No "Patriot Act" required.

3. The Bill of Rights is to be respected and preserved. That means ALL ten amendments are equal to all other. Specifically, religion and government should not be mixed, period. The second amendment also needs to be respected. We are already violating it. "A well regulated militia, necessary to the security of a free State..." I would submit that there is no well regulated militia. We have an Army, but they don't serve the people. The National Guard could be called our militia, but they have now been almost completely commandeered by the Army.

4. People have the right to privacy. What people do with their fun parts or any other part of their body is their business. Abortion, while an undesirable practice, should not be banned. We should do whatever we can to REDUCE the number of abortions, but never deny a woman her right to one.

5. Domestic partnerships for all, same sex or not. Marriage is a religious idea, civil unions and domestic partnerships are a legal institution. Want to get married? get a church that agrees with you. Don't have/want a church? Civil unions are for you.

6. National Healthcare. NOW! We need to start taking care of our people here before fighting wars to "liberate" other people who didn't ask for it.

7. NO MORE corporate contributions to campaigns/parties PERIOD!
Publicly and constituent funded elections are the only way we can elect honest representatives. Democrat and Republican corporate whores, beware! If you are a corporation and you want influence, get you employees to support a policy or bill that can help your company as a whole. You can lobby for their voice, but you are not allowed to lobby a Congressman directly.

8. Natural disaster prevention and preparedness. Analyze all weakpoints for energy and shipping infrastructure and fix problems ASAP. For example, if we have another New Orleans floodwall situation out there, let's fix it before the disaster hits.

9. A major change in foreign policy. No more agressive bully tactics, but we still need to be tough and smart about fighting al-qaeda et al. This means actual human intelligence. Real spies, doing real spy work. Oh yeah, and when you fight a war, make sure you know what the HELL you're doing!

10. Citizen verifiable paper ballots. No fancy electronics, no scanners, lasers, or barcodes. Mark the box next to the candidate you want. So what if it takes a few days to find out who won? Isn't an accurate count more important than a speedy one?

11. Abolish the death penalty nationwide. One innocent person wrongly executed is too many.

Well, I know most of you aren't going to agree with this on every point, but I wonder if other people are capable of voting for something like this.

1. Sure I would...
...but I'd ask that you add in divestiture of the major media. Apply our anti-trust principles in that arena, and democratic discourse woudl be restored.

2.  I like a lot of it. Obviously I prefer to go further with
the election reform plan: http://www.geocities.com/greenpartyvoter/electionreform.htm

I'd also want cradle to grave public education to go with that universal healthcare.

Also not sure what to do about the borders. Just not sure if we can truly plug them up so I say we are better off having fewer enemies due to better FP.

4. Exactly, a foreign policy that's serious about eliminating terrorism...

Has to be a policy that does what it can to eliminate conditions that breed terrorism in the first place. Believe it or not, there are actually reasons for terrorism. Not justifications, but reasons. Those reasons need to be seriously addressed.

8. I would be wary of the "tax-and-spend liberal" charge
You've got good ideas - funding may be an issue. Abolishing Bush's tax plan would be a good start, but I wonder if it would be enough.
