My trip to Buffalo/Niagara Falls - Thanks!
First - I am sorry I can't remember names who helped and the search function isn't pulling up my previous post asking for information, so please do not take my horrible memory as a sign of disrespect.

Thank you all for the great info on Buffalo, and Niagara Falls Canada. My wife and I found the information extremely helpful for two places we'd never been. In Buffalo we stayed right down town in the "party" district as the hotelier called it.

I tried a Beef on a Weck...wow salty but tastie. We checked out Elmwood twice and went to the zoo today before we left. Buffalo seems quaint in a way, not in a bad way but it was different than I expected. The people were nice, I found a parking spot everywhere I went and I enjoyed what I saw of it.

Niagara Falls - Clifton Hills, thanks for the tip about parking in the residential neighborhood. Clifton hills is touristy...same kind of stuff that you can find in any tourist area, rock t-shirts, silly hats, etc. but it was fun to look at while walking to the falls.

When we first saw the falls we were both slightly unimpressed with them (coming down clifton and looking straight out towards the falls). Neither one of us mentioned it until a minute later when we both realized we weren't looking at the horseshoe part. DOH. The NY side was tall and powerful, but wow the Canadian side was incredible. We did the maid of the mist tour, the walk behind the falls, the butterfly conservatory and botanical gardens. We also got to see the fireworks over the falls. We spent about 10 hours there that day (we went back the next day).

Then we decided to go to Toronto yesterday. We had no point of reference so we drove around the city looking at things for a while before we came to Yonge Street. We parked and spent the day walking up and down that street. We both enjoyed Toronto also.

In any case, it was a great trip and we are both thankful for the help you all offered us.

1. my mom grew up there
so I spent a lot of time in Niagara Falls. The Canadian side is more impressive and more 'organized", but I have to say, the natural beauty of the American side ( wilder in some ways) has grown on me over the years. Glad you enjoyed my birthplace!

Toronto is very cool, too.
