I think I just blew it on the perfect job!
I was going to apply for a real job that I worked 3 years ago, but only as a student. I loved them and they loved me. Now it's a real job with benefits, but when I got the email I thought it said the deadline to apply was this Friday. I just re-read the email to set down to get it all together, and the deadline was yesterday!

I called and left a message with the director asking if I could get my applicatoin & resume in today, but now I'm very afradi I totally blew it!

1. Don't panic. Unless the company is completely anal-retentive
about resume deadlines, they should accept yours, if you get it in very soon. If you worked there before, and they liked your work, chances are they'll overlook a slight delay on your part.

3. Thanks.
As soon as I posted the Director called and said there were a couple other people who were getting their applications in late, too. Bad to know there are others applying, good to know I'm not the only dolt in the running! LOL.

Be professional - get them the resume and application, let them know you're very interested.

4. Be professional?
Too late--they already know me! LOL. Right after I posted the Director called me back, said it was fine to sneak it in to her this afternoon. Thanks for responding and urging calm. :)

This was my favorite job in seminary. The entire workforce (all three of us) went out every Thursday night for "Drinks and Debrief." Not many church jobs offer atmosphere like that! LOL.

I take it you rode out Rita just fine? How's Mama kitty? Popped yet?

11. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Now, that's my kind of church!LOL! Remember I told you that you remind me of my friend Terri who is a Lutheran pastor? She and I were roommates in college, and we used to take wine out to the hot tub and talk about God until we were slurring.... then wake up hungover for Sunday School!LOL! Those were the days! I wouldn't doubt it if she and her staff had similar debriefings!

I had some damage to the house, but nothing I can't get fixed via insurance. Mama Kitty is living in her own suite... a second bedroom with her own closet to hide in. She hasn't popped yet, and I am beginning to wonder if she's not just fat rather than pregnant!

7. Good luck! Now they know you are really eager to get the job.
So, that's good -- most employers look for enthusiasm.

Hey, I was sorry to have missed meeting you in DC last weekend. Had planned on going to the meetup on Saturday night, but was too pooped and figured I had met everyone I truly wanted to meet on Friday night. But had I known you were going to be there... :(

15. Will do, Buffy!
You'd approve of this job, I'm sure. We slay fundie kids in a Gandhi-esque fashion. It's a summer program for high school youth who are interested in exploring vocational ideas through a religious lens, but the program's religious lens is pretty far to the left. The year I worked the program we had a pagan lesbian on staff. There was one fundie girl in particular who couldn't believe a) a pagan person held religious beliefs, and b) a lesbian wasn't trying to lead her into a life of sin. One handsome male camper came out of the closet at the end of the program, and was still accepted by the entire group. We discussed in depth and often the power and abuse of power inherent in religion, and worked to teach the kids the values of non-violence and acceptance of other beliefs. Stereotypes were shattered, to the betterment of all who participated. Extreme RW fundamentalist Christian ideas were challenged and slayed. :)
