Poll question: Who's the bigger geek?
In the land of geekdom, its pretty clear furry fanfic writers take the cake.

But besides them - who makes the bigger slice of geeks?

2. More so than Ren Faire freaks?
I mean what's geekier than looking fondly on a time when you died at 20, the streets were littered with poo, the church controlled everything and you had no political voice whatsoever?

18. there is no accounting for taste
I never got into Matthew McConaughey either, but Conaughities don't get on my nerves. Why should out enthusiasms get on yours? I just cannot understand the illogic of this species. Ah well, live long and prosper anyway.

9. Furry fans, and the lowest dregs of anime geeks
are in a hot race to the bottom of fandoms, but the furry fans (a/k/a skunkf%ckers) win at the finish line.

I always wanted to wear a suit and tie to a sci-fi con with a nametag identifying me as "Nameless Lovecraftian Horror."

Did you see that Conan O'Brien episode when Triumph went to the courthouse vigil? Holy Shit!

I'm a hardcore Star Wars geek myself. We're normal in comparison to the others.

For the record LOTR fans are referred to as "Ringers"

15. People who write pornographic fan fiction
Frankly, I don't want to know what Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan did on their spare time. This stuff is out of hand.

And this is coming from a guy who, upon watching the Senate battle between Yoda and Sidious, drew parallels to Milton's "Paradise Lost."

17. Furry fanfic writers are just kinda freaky.
And I'm very open to almost anything (ask Khash-I've told him all kinds of crap!).
I don't know-most of kind of lonely and just want people to communicate with. I can't fault them for that. It's human nature to want to be around people like yourself. But the LOTR people really annoyed me in the movie line so I'll pick them.

Sci-Fi Channel New Years' and 4th of July, right?

One of my best memories in that baggage-ensuing disaster. I've yet to with my boyfriend, but he's the type who would as well.

33. Trekkies, by far:
My vote still goes to trekkies. Nobody speaks Gallifreyan, Dalekese, Cyberish, or anything else.

The worst thing some of us do is go around in a mock-up of Tom Baker's outfit (or, far worse, Sylvester McCoy's). While a few build their own Daleks, when you go to a WHO convention, you do not see 5,000 Daleks mixed in with 10,000 fairly normal people. At a trek convention, however, you DO have 5,000 klingons... 2000 vulcans... 500 romulans... 8000 federation folks... That's why news media avoids WHO conventions. There are far fewer obsessed freaks to make the whole group of people look the same way. By comparison, the news media barely needs to even try with the trek lot!

WHO actors sign autographs for free. Trek actors charge you an arm, a leg, and precious little else. (certainly not one's firstborn because, let's face it, how many trekkies end up having children - or even getting a date?)

British actors often complain about the rules and regs of American tv creation ("Chef!" and "Red Dwarf V" DVD documentaties having the actors saying some eye-opening stuff I could never even imagine. Since when have you heard an American actor whine about how British programs are made? (none. American actors are generally so snotty they won't step outside their precious pompous union! Tom "I get 20 million for saying 'Cool' on screen" Cruise surely would not. The Brits pay their actors reasonable sums of money. Actually that's not entirely true. Patrick Stewart, having seen Red Dward VI when in England, was about to sue the Grant Naylor production company thinking that Red Dwarf was a ripoff of Star Trek... what a fool! Of course, I don't think Stewart is a natural born yank even though he lives here and gets 8 million for saying "Make it so" on screen...)
