...insisted on some stupid rules for his televised "debates" in 2000. IIRC they stood on opposite sides of the room for one debate, and wer seated at a table for the other.
Even though he's something like 6'0", Gore is an inch or two taller. Rove didn't want them standing too close to each other.
Getting back to the general women & height thing, I've noticed that if you're tall, women will give you a second glance even if you're bald. Of course they always ran the other way when they found out I had no money...

I'm about 5'3" and don't think I've met an adult male shorter than I am. If I did, I didn't notice and I really don't think I care about a man's height. There are plenty of other more important qualities, such as sanity.

30. at 5'2 I've certainly met (and dated) shorter men |
|
I don't think there are any young people as short as I am, not even the women. But as I'm an older model, there were certainly shorter men in my generation, especially Asian men. I don't think I would ever be interested in a serious relationship with a much taller man because it is literally a pain in the neck to keep looking up...also I would worry about being smooshed.

about the looking up, especially if it's way up. Slow dancing with a very tall guy is also awkward. Although I can't say that dancing seems to happen very often. My ex gained a lot of weight over a 7 year period and I can say that getting smooshed toward the end of our relationship wasn't very appealing. However, I can't see how any one physical characteristic could turn me off enough to not find someone appealing. However, attraction is a mysterious process, not sure how it works for me.

What you say is true to an extent, but men are more diverse in their preferences. For every guy who digs skinny chicks, there is another one who likes 'big butts'.
Women seem to be much more consistent in their preference for taller guys.

I think it's hard to say....I mean, do you mean taller as in "taller than me"? Or taller as in around six feet?
In the interests of self-disclosure: My usual 'dating type' of man is tall('er' than me) and thin. (I hate 'types', but anyway!) But, Bono, :loveya: , the sun and moon of my celebrity boyfriend universe, is 5'7. I would never pass someone like him up for something as silly as height.

I'd like to think I could be more evolved than that. I mean, I really have a thing for taller men (like in the close to 6 foot+ range) and I married a guy who was 5'8 1/2" (I'm just short of 5'5"), but I never lost that tall thing. I suppose I could because in a way I already have gone for a man shorter than what I'm usually attracted to, but the height thing is definately something I really like. Sorry, but I know there are probably certain features about me that some men wouldn't prefer either.

Edit - I realize this is a thread for ladies, but dammit - this thread needed a man's touch. ;-) Oh, and I'm 5'8" or so.

They had a great marriage and four successful kids. 5' 8" is a lot taller than most women. Your height doesn't matter in the slightest if you find the right person who cares about you.:-)

My first boyfriend in high school was about an inch shorter and I think that was as tall as he got.
I've noticed that I attract short men.
Taller men don't seem to notice me at all.
P.S. - my husband is perhaps 5'8" - but it really doesn't matter to me.

|
At this time, women who don't care about height *at all* (the last option) outnumber women who care (all the other options put together!)
That's pretty amazing, I had not expected that.
Wonder if this is peculiar to liberal women or true of the general population? I'm guessing the former.

I've dates 2 zillion guys. Height doesn't matter. Weight matters if it's over 25 lbs overweight or 1 pound underweight. Hair color matters, it has to be dark(er).
Physically, height is one of the least important factors to me.

We could actually wear each others cloths if we were so inclined. Only real disadvantage is that it seems a taller man can "lead" more effectively during couples dancing; probably because they can lean down and apply a little more leverage.

I remember seeing something about this on one of the 'nightly news magazines' a few years ago (I think it was 20/20). THey did a survey/study thing......the short guys were always last, etc. (it was about more than just dating)

My last girlfriend was an 1/8" taller than me, but in the clogs she always wore she was a couple inches taller. She tortured me about it a bit. But then she tortured me about everything. I never considered myself short until her. She pointed out that most everybody (mostly women) in the office we worked in was taller than me. She really was not a very nice person.
About the differences between what women say an what they do, I think that has a lot to do with whether they know you or not. If you ask out a stranger, unless she finds something about you compelling, she may reject you on the basis of any "flaw" that's handy - and height is pretty obvious. If she knows you, and likes you, height will not be as likely to matter.
